Book Review: A Dog's Purpose

Hey friends! I'm coming to you on this, my last day of Spring Break vacation (sad face sad face), with a great book for you to read, especially if you're a dog/animal lover. It's called A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

I stumbled across this book when I was searching for a new book to read on Amazon. Since I had just finished the last book in the trilogy of The Girl Who...series, I wanted something a little lighter and happier.  I had really loved the book The Art of Racing in the Rain, so I searched for recommendations based on that book and this one came up with really good reviews. Plus, I think it was only $7 on Amazon for my Kindle.

One word I have to describe this book is "sweet." It's about a dog's perspective while he is trying to figure out what his "purpose" is for in being in the world as he experiences many different lives in different dog bodies. That part may sound weird, but it's more about that saying "everything happens for a reason" and how you encounter certain people or learn different things that help you in the greater scheme of life. I absolutely loved how the author tied in this component to the story because I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason.

The dog in this book is just adorable. There is one part of the book in particular that 100% reminded me of my pup, Cooper. It was almost as if Cooper could have written it himself. The author did a wonderful job of taking on the perspective of a dog, and giving him a voice.

If you love animals, especially dogs, I promise you will love this. It's a sweet and tender easy read. If you are looking for a light-hearted, feel-good book, this one's for you.

While reading, and after reading, it made me have an even bigger appreciation for the little man who has been in my life for the past 3 1/2 years:

And now, I'm off to get little man a nice grooming! Catch you guys tomorrow, when I go back to hell work :)
