Weekend Highlights

This weekend was absolutely everything--from the weather to the events, it was absolutely perfect!

My highlights this weekend included:

~Surviving my crazy parent meeting on Friday

~Celebrating with my coworkers with a after work drink

~Ordered dinner in and watched The Imitation Game with the hubs

~Attempted to go for a hike since the weather was so nice, but the line of cars to get in was outrageous, so no go

~Spent some time on our deck and took Cooper for a long walk

~Was over the moon excited when the Weekend of Girl Babies took place with THREE good blog friends giving birth to their beautiful baby girls over the weekend!!! (Congrats LynnJess and Jessi--so so so happy for you and your adorable little girls!)

~Made our way into DC and met up with Christy and Holly for a pre-dinner blate! (along with the boys)
Had such a fun time hanging out with these two and finally getting to meet Holly in person after so many years!

~MG and I made our way to our anniversary dinner at Grillfish where we had oysters, pecan crusted mahi-mahi and blackened swordfish, along with a delicious dessert and a bottle of wine--heaven!
(wore my wedding earrings and the bracelet MG gave me on our wedding day!)

~Cherry Blossoms in DC at night

~Exchanged gifts first thing in the morning--MG even researched the first anniversary "paper" gift and made sure, since his gift wasn't paper, that his card matched the wrapping paper, and that it was all in our wedding colors (purple and silver). That man...he's good.

~Chocolate chip pancakes made by the hubs for breakfast!

~Sunday morning errands

~Tried out Amanda's green drink recommendation--and it was delicious! Will definitely be making many more of these in the future!
(the flash went off which is why this looks neon green lol)
~Had my parents over to spend time together, and also got to celebrate the anniversary with them

~Watched our wedding video--so fun to re-watch and remember the whole day again

~Took a Pinterest-inspired 1st anniversary photo

~Cooked dinner together and then devoured our delicious anniversary cake!

~Snuggled on the couch and watched Game of Thrones before heading to bed for another work week!

All in all, it was a weekend full of so much exciting stuff like new babies, meeting blog friends, spending time with family, and getting to celebrate being married to my best friend for a year!
(thanks for taking such a good picture, Christy) ;)
1 year down, a lifetime to go! :)

I hope your weekend was spectacular, too!

2014 Recap: {July, August, September}

Ahh, the summer months!
Here's what I was up to in July, August and September:

{July}
-Recapped the wedding dresses that didn't make the cut

-Finished staining the deck (it was quite a process!)

-Drove to Charleston for 4th of July with our friends; spent most of the day at the pool, then out in the city at night

-Spent a week in Kiawah, SC with MG's best friend and his gf in the cutest cottage ever, and saw gators!

-Went to our friends' beautiful wedding in Charleston
-Met the top male model for Polo there and tried to sneakily paparazzi him without him knowing

-DIY'ed a mirror re-paint
(still haven't figured out where to put that thing tho haha)
-did lots of reading on our deck

-Had a quadruple date with my friends from work and their significant others, and another date night with one of our favorite couple friends
-Went to NJ for our friends' parents surprise anniversary/vow renewal, and met up with some friends from home while up there (small world!)

-taped off, picked out paint (after like 9 samples) and painted the kitchen walls gray

-Recapped some awesome things from growing up that kids today won't understand

{August}
-Replaced the hideous 80's fixture in our dining room

-Painted our kitchen cabinets like an assembly line in our basement

-Had the kitchen turn out amazingly well! (all the hard work paid off!)
-Made a bunch of yummy new dishes!

-Went back up to the Shore to spend time with MG's family. Ran into my same friend from VA up there again!

-Read a bunch of books

-Went to my buddy Bree's Bachelorette party and had a TON of fun!

-Had my first week back at work, but started the week with these from MG:

{September}
-Painted our living room
still need to hang the photo ledges for our gallery wall
-Another school year started

-Did a gallery wall in our kitchen (and figured out the easiest way to do one)
-Went to my buddy Bree's beautiful Moroccan wedding

-Saw a comedy show with my girlies from work and our significant others (so funny!)

-Went up to Philly and met the newest member of the family, Burton the puppy (who even now looks nothing like a puppy anymore!)

These were definitely some jam-packed months, but super productive ones on the house, and full of lots of vacation time!

Next up, the last part of the year: October, November and December!!

2014 Recap: {April, May, June}

This will probably be my favorite recap of 2014, because it has all things WEDDING and HONEYMOON in it!!!

{April}
-Celebrated my nugget's birthday 2 days before the wedding (in matching shirts, no less--which wasn't planned)

-Got pampered with my SIL's, bridesmaids (minus Trish) and nieces

-Oh you know....GOT MARRIED!!!

-Lynn became my bloggy to IRL friend after coming to DC for my wedding!

-Changed my name and marital status on Facebook the next day while waiting to leave for our honeymoon and looking through all of the amazing pictures our friends and family posted, because I was SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!!!  #FBO #aintnothingwrongwiththat

-Went on the most amazing Honeymoon to Antigua with the love of my life, right after our wedding (and just realized I never recapped that at all...I'll have to rectify that soon if you guys are still interested!)

-Went on some great excursions, and met some awesome couples who we're still in touch with today (even got some Christmas cards from them!)

-Went to my nugget's communion

-Closed on our house!!!!

-Subsequently pinned a ton of ideas for the house (many of which we've actually put to good use!)

{May}
-Got addicted to Orange is the New Black

-Attended the wedding drama couple's wedding (no cat fights, only rainbows)

-Attended MG's cousin's wedding

-Had all of our wedding gift thank you notes done within a month! #politeandtimely

-Moved my office at work, 3 weeks before the end of the school year
#atleastihavewindowsnow
-Had a blate with Christy!

-Packed up our condo to get ready for moving day!

-Celebrated the anniversary of our engagement, along with Memorial Day weekend with friends before they moved :(

{June}
-Had things delivered to the house (washer/dryer, bed, etc) and moved things into the house slowly during the week before our official move in with the moving truck (made easier by Verizon shutting off our cable early #thanksalotverizon)

-Had a girls night with these two pretties and chatted the night away #sistersandwich

-Moving Day!!! MG's parents, my mom and our B-I-L came to help!

-Said good-bye to our old condo and our friends moved into it!

-Had our first house guest when my friend Nikki stayed over--we drank wine, gossiped a bunch and watched a favorite movie from growing up!

-Had a girls night at the house, and enjoyed having a deck to relax on!

-School let out for the summer!!!!

-We stained/painted the deck, ordered a new office desk (since our movers broke it), and continued to get settled into the house

-Got a visit from my in-laws and my niece and nephew, followed by my SIL, her husband and their kids in the same weekend, at different times, so they could all see the house!
(it was SO nice having the space to have everyone stay with us and not need to get a room at a hotel)

Next up: July, August, and September! (aka, vacation months!!)

2014 Recap: {Jan, Feb, March}

I loved the idea of reviewing the year in smaller posts throughout the weeks leading up to the New Year!

Today's post recaps January, February and March which happened to be SUPER filled with all kinds of exciting things!

{January}
-Rang in the New Year with this guy:

-the first gifts from our registry arrived!

-My wedding dress came in and I had my first fitting in my dress (no clamps needed that time!)

-Sent out our wedding invitations:
this isn't our information--just the invitation templates we used
-1st bridal shower in PA thrown by MG's mom and sisters

{February}
-Tried a ton of new recipes!

-Watched the Olympics

-Had my second bridal shower (locally), thrown by my bestie, while MG was on his bachelor party

{March}
-Celebrated an early birthday in Philly with the nieces and my SIL (whose bday is the day before mine)

-Had our tasting at the wedding venue, got to see the table set up, and stuffed ourselves silly with all of the delicious options! And we made our food choices for the wedding day!

-Had my bachelorette party in Charlottesville VA at wineries with some of my best friends!
Love these ladies!!!
-We went to 3 Open Houses when I got back from my Bachelorette party, and ended up putting in an offer on our now-house because we fell in love with it! We found out on my birthday, that the offer was was accepted!
#bestbirthdaypresentever

-Celebrated the big 3-1!

-Our friends signed off on renting our condo from us within the week of getting the house accepted (everything falls into place so easily when it's meant to happen!)

-More snow, and I began to wonder if I'd need to wear snowboots on my wedding day
(but Cooper enjoyed himself)
(he dug all of that snow out with his face....I'm not even joking)
-Picked up our wedding bands on one of the many snowy days, testing out MG's car's All Wheel Drive (it worked haha)

-MG went to Europe for work and got food poisoning, delaying his return back; luckily he got better and made it back only a day late

-DIY'ed my escort cards, table numbers and programs

Phew!! See what I mean?? Those were 3 JAM-PACKED months!! So glad I'm not recapping the whole year or you guys would be reading this post for a LONG time....

Stay tuned next week for April (Wedding month!!!), May and June recaps!
