Friday Faves

Happy first Friday in March! We survived the first week, and I'm ready for the weekend ahead!
Let's talk about some faves this week!

{1} Outpouring of love
You guys are my top favorite this week. Thank you thank you thank you for all of the sweet comments, emails, prayers and thoughts that you've sent me and my family's way, especially after my post on Tuesday.
In addition to that love, a sweet family at work gave me these flowers which have brightened up my office all week

{2} Netflix Shows
Fuller House: Yes I know this has been out for a week, and it's STILL a favorite, especially since the good news that it's being renewed for a 2nd season came out this week! I've enjoyed watching the episodes throughout the week, and MG has even enjoyed them too. He's commented multiple times that they made it a lot funnier and better than he thought it would be. It's been a nice, quick escape during an emotional and stressful week, which I'm super thankful for.
Plus, House of Cards comes out tonight--get ready for dark dark dark!

{3} Surprise Mail Days
When I came home from work on Monday, I had a package waiting for me, so I tore into it and found all of these goodies which my buddy Amanda had sent to me along with the sweetest note ever! (That Living Proof dry shampoo is NO JOKE!) Blog friends are some of the best friends :)

{4}Favorite Music
{via}
For the last two weeks, I've been listening to the Hamilton musical almost non-stop (thanks Carly!). Thanks to Amazon Prime, I was able to download the whole album to my phone (for free), and I've been able to play it through Bluetooth in my car since. Not only did I learn more about history, but I'm amazed at Lin Manuel Miranda's talents (he wrote all of the songs in the musical). This is likely the closest I'll get to the actual musical since ticket prices in NY are around $600...minimum! (You can also listen to all of the songs on You Tube here)
If you didn't see the performance on the Grammy's, go check it out, and then check out the musical

{5} Funnies
When Chris Christie realizes it wasn't a dream: he was invaded by aliens, and he did, in fact, endorse Trump.

How I feel when the tech support people at work are useless:

{via}
When someone says/does something incredibly stupid, and you don't let your internal monologue escape your lips
{via}
When someone brings in donuts and danishes to work and they announce it over the loud speaker at work
{via}
I hope you all have a great Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday, loves! We made it through another week and I survived my first full week back to work after Snowzilla happened!

{1} Movie
{via}
The book Me Before You is coming out as a movie!!! I absolutely LOVED this book--it gave me all the feels (if you haven't read it yet, do it!), so I'm so excited to see it in movie form. Plus it has Danaerys from Game of Thrones, Mister Bates from Downton and Finnick from Hunger Games in it!
My friend sent me the trailer yesterday!

{2} Favorite Recipe
Just look at all of the cheesy goodness in these delicious tacos. I would eat these in a heartbeat!
{via}
{3} Favorite Song
I heard this last week on Ellen and I was instantly humming it. Troye Sivan-Youth

{4} Surprise!
That my blog-to-IRL friend Lynn is coming into town this weekend! Her sweet hubby surprised her with a weekend getaway and I'll get to see her while she's in town! It's been too long since I've seen her pretty face, so this was a very pleasant surprise to get this week!

{5} Funnies
When you work with a middle aged woman who is rude to you for no reason every time she sees you

How I'd like to react to that pointlessly rude woman:

When the girl scout cookie orders start arriving
{via}
How I felt when the groundhog didn't see his shadow, predicting an early Spring:
{via} Thank you, Mr. Groundhog!
Hope you have a quick Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!! We made it to the end of the first full week back after all of that holiday celebrating!
I'm still more than ready for the weekend ahead, though, and sleeping in a bit in the mornings, what about you?
Let's talk some favorites from this week!

{1}-Favorite Song: Selena Gomez-Hands to Myself
I heard this song on iTunes radio last night while I was listening and making dinner. I hadn't heard it before, but it was pretty catchy:

{2}- Favorite Local Discovery
Last weekend MG and I discovered Dog Tag Bakery in DC (we knew about it, but had never actually been) which has delicious bakery items, and also supports our military and their families. Not to mention, the bakery itself is super cute.  MG's family is close friends with the priest who'd helped to open it, and it was nice to get to visit it after his funeral services on Saturday.

{3}- Favorite Online Funny
If you've been watching Making a Murderer (like almost everyone has been), then you'll find this Buzzfeed article that has the funniest tweets about Making a Murderer pretty entertaining. My favorite?  This one:
{4}-Favorite Read: Savor
{via}
Since the start of the year, I've been reading Shauna Niequist's Savor every day. It's a sort of devotional, and gives me something to think about, pray on, or be thankful for each day. It's been a really nice way to start the year and round out each day.
If you haven't read her other book, Bread and Wine, do it! It was one of my favorite books that I read last year.

{5}-Funnies
When someone at work, who is supposed to know what they're doing, continually makes the same mistake over and over again, and you have to deal with the mess:
{via}
When you're trying to do a no-spend month and you keep seeing sales and cute things:
{via}
When you wish you worked at this school (and you realize that some white guys can dance):
{via}
When it's below 20 degrees in the morning, so you bust out your warmest headwear:

I hope you have a quick and easy Friday, and a restful weekend, lovies!

Friday Faves!

Whoop whoop! It's Friday party people!!!!

This week was filled with all kinds of favorites, so let's just hop right on into it!

{1} Favorite Productive Moment
Our holiday cards are ordered (and will be here next week!)
Thanks to Stephanie posting about where she got her holiday cards done, I went and purchased ours, and at a crazy discounted rate, plus free shipping!
If you haven't ordered yours yet, go to Simply To Impress, and enter in the code H5WRB3 in order to get 40% off and free shipping, by November 9th! (I'm not getting paid to tell you this--just sharing the discount love with you all!)
One more thing checked off of the holiday to-do list!

{2} Favorite Song
"Sorry"-Justin Bieber
No, I'm not apologizing for picking Justin Bieber--that's the song title! If you had told me two years ago (or even a year ago) that the Beebs would have been in my favorites twice within the last couple of months, I would have laughed at you. But, I will say, dude has been turning stuff around it seems, and his music has been on point! I was cooking the other night and had on iTunes radio when this came on, and I loved it! (the video isn't my favorite but the song is catchy):

{3} Favorite Photo
At the end of our White House/West Wing tour on Sunday (you can read about it and see the pics here if you missed it), my friend's little girl turned to me with her tiny hand in mine and asked me to run up the stairs to the Old Executive Building and take a picture with her. I couldn't say no to that adorable little face, so we did, and her mom snapped this picture which I just love (MG said it should be in a picture frame). It's the little joys in life:

{4} Favorite Link
This Buzzfeed that Christy sent me yesterday about people's embarrassing moments. Had me rolling. Check it out for a good laugh!
Buzzfeed rarely disappoints!

{5}- Funnies
When Daylight Saving Time ends, and it's approaching sunset at 5pm:

When you're the person who unknowingly gets the taco with a crack on the bottom:

When you just need a quick mid-morning snack

When you get to peek into the rooms in the West Wing:

When Friday comes after a long week:

Hope you have a quick Friday and a fantastic weekend, loves!

I want to take a second to send a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shoutout to my best friend, Genna, who reads my blog every day! I'm so glad that we found each other--it's always nice knowing that there is someone out there who just gets me--my person! I love you to pieces and hope that your day is SUPER special!!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday, and Halloween-eve! Hopefully the week wasn't too long or scary, and even if it was, it's Friday now so don't worry about it!

Let's talk some favorites from this week, shall we?
{1} Favorite New Fall Polish
You all know of my obsession over Essie's Bahama Mama polish a few weeks ago, but I have a new Essie favorite. Merino Cool is the perfect gray color, with a hint of purple to it--I'm obsessed!
the purple tint is harder to see in this photo, but in person, it's there
{2} Favorite Song
"Hello" by Adele
This song and all of the feels. I've had it stuck in my head since I heard it on Monday and have been playing it ever since. Adele, you know just how to pull on my heart strings!
(Fast Forward to 1:15 for the start of the actual song)
{3} Favorite Work Moment
Today I'm getting a new work laptop! This might not seem like a big deal, but I've had mine for the last 4 years (and it was around a couple before I got it). It's slower than slow, doesn't hold a charge, and freezes randomly. I'm SUPER excited to have a fully functioning brand spanking NEW laptop for work. Just in time for Report Cards! (it's the little things in life, right?)

{4} Favorite Flats
{via}
Thanks to Jess, I purchased these adorable nude flats the other day from Target. I have a patent leather pair but they hurt my feet when I wear them for a long time. I have these pair in the camel color and they're super comfy!
Thanks, Jess, for the great find!

{5} Funnies
When you want to keep all of the Halloween chocolate to yourself
{via}
When you unexpectedly walk into someone else's cloud of fart in public
{via} Shout out to Jem and the Holograms!!
When you order something online and then get the dreaded email that they can't fulfill your order for this reason or that reason
{via}
When playing with your food happens to fit in with the upcoming holiday
{via} don't pretend like you never did this with Bugles growing up!
Hope you have a great Halloween weekend, and nothing too spooky happens to you! If my school costume comes out the way I plan it to, I'll share that with you guys on Monday!

Friday Faves

Woohoo Friday!! We made it, and that shorter week definitely helped!
My favorites this week:
{1} Back to School Outfit
I went bright, colorful and floral for back to school. And I wore my Kate Spade multi-colored studs, too--I have seriously gotten SO MANY compliments on them!
(Update on the pink ones: I took them back. Since I'd bought a pair of Kendra Scott earrings from my Rocksbox set, and then got the multi-colored, I was good and responsible--boo-- and took the pink ones back. I'm super happy with the multi-colored ones!)

{2} Favorite Song
I feel slightly ashamed saying this, but Justin Bieber's new song What Do You Mean?
It's catchy and sticks in your head. Even MG enjoyed it!

{3} Favorite Shows-Old and New
(these two shows are total opposite ends of the spectrum)
{via} they're just too fabulous
Ladies of London is back and I'm so pumped--I've bloody missed the Brits in my life :)
{via}
The other show that MG and I started watching on Netflix is Narcos. Have you guys heard of it or watched it? It's about drug cartel Pablo Escobar and it's super interesting!

{4} Favorite Video Clip
Whenever Justin Timberlake goes on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, it's allllllllways the best video clip of the week. This is them doing the History of Rap (part 6). You're welcome.

ALLLLLLL the heart eyes!!!! I would totally marry either or both of them. Sorry, MG...he'd understand tho :)
And if you want some extra funny, just watch Jimmy and Ellen do a Lip Sync battle because it's pretty freaking amazing, too! {5} Funnies
When kids make you feel old:
{via}  Gameboys were the best!
When you're trying to think of a nice way to say something mean:
{via} Know anyone who could be that veggie?? ;)
For the Harry Potter lovers out there--this one made me giggle
{via}
Let's also not forget this date in history. I will always remember where I was when I heard about the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. It's hard to believe that that was 14 years ago. I'm taking a moment today to say a prayer for those whose lives were lost, and those who lost loved ones.
(from NBC New York Facebook page)
I hope you have an easy Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Top 2 Tuesday

It's a rainy Tuesday here in the D-Cizzle, but it comes after the MOST beautiful 80 degree, sunshiny, no-humidity day. So, I can't complain too much. Hoping it's a sign of warmer, Springier weather to come!!

Today I'm linking up with the Undomestic Momma for Top 2 Tuesday!

My top 2 songs on my iPod are:

1) Michael Franti's Say Hey (I love you). I love love love this song. From the first time I heard it til now, I can not help myself but bounce around when I hear this song. This also lends itself to much entertainment for my boyfriend when he's around and the song plays (sometimes I think he plays it on purpose just to watch me bounce around like a little kid). This one always puts me in a good mood.

2)Timbaland's Morning After Dark. This is one I can play and dance to, work out to, or just sit back and chill with. I love the beat, I love the music. Big ups to Timbaland (oh geez, did I really just write that?? haha). I love him, and his music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25LBTSUEU0A

If you haven't heard either of these songs (uh, where have you been living?? hehe jk), you should definitely check them out. Perfect on a rainy day, like today!

Hope you all are having happier weather than we are here!
