Family Weekend Recap

This weekend really was the revolving door of family...mix that in with home projects and you have a jam-packed weekend!
And, I was a good blogger and took LOTS of photos!

Thursday evening, MG's parents and his niece and nephew arrived. Traffic was bad for them, so it took them longer than it would have without traffic. We got to hang out for a little while (I got in some snuggle time with my little nugget) and then we all went up to bed.

The next day we were all up and at 'em early-ish. MG made everyone breakfast (love his breakfasts) and his dad helped us out with a few other things. Before we knew it, it was lunch time. MG and his dad decided to do work on our deck, so I took my mother-in-law and our niece and nephew to lunch nearby. Since we were right next to a mini golf place and the weather was amazing, we decided to do a round of mini golf which was a lot of fun.

After mini golf, I had to rush off to get my massage (I'd had it scheduled before I knew they were coming down). It was HEAVENLY. My massage therapist worked out so many knots and stressed out muscles. I felt like butter when it was all done!
And little did I know, that I would come home to freshly trimmed bushes and hedges on the front and side of the house, along with about 2/3 of the deck covered. It was in a really bright reddish orange color, so we decided to do a different color.

We all got ready for dinner and headed to Old Town waterfront before we got to the restaurant to celebrate MG's dad's birthday
After a not-so kid-friendly dinner, MG's parents had to get on the road and get back home, so we said our good byes to the crew.

Saturday we were up, getting the house ready for our next round of visitors. We ran to home depot for more deck stuff, and since MG's sister and her family were running a little behind, MG got to work on the deck. It looks SO much better with this deck restore that we used:

This was how Cooper awaited their arrival:
Ready for his full-page spread in some risqué magazine :)
Annie and her family arrived shortly after lunch time, and after touring them around the house, we decided to head into DC. Little did we know there was a China/Kenya cultural event going on on the mall. We went to the Natural History museum, walked around A LOT and then headed back to VA to have dinner and then back to the house.

We all hung out for a bit, and once the girls went to bed, we had a chance to just hang out and have some adult time which was really nice. Around midnight, we all headed to bed since it had been a looooong day.

Sunday morning we had another round of breakfast and then Annie and her family hit the road around 10:30. We went out to run our errands for the week, and also get more deck restore stuff so we could finish the rest of the deck. MG did the rest of the deck while I worked on touching up the edges from before, and getting some of the posts around the deck done...and it looks AWESOME already, even though we're still not totally done.
We also picked up some really cute pillows at Pier 1 that lighten up the living room (and our dark brown furniture). I love the light pattern on them!

I had to head to get my hair cut (the first one with my stylist since before the wedding), and I was dyinnnnng to have her get her hands on me. It's been almost a year since I've been able to get a "style" to my hair since I was growing it out for the wedding. My hair stylist worked her magic, and I felt like a new woman:
I have side bangs again! Wooohoooo. My hair was very happy!
And so was I :)

I came home to MG making home-made burgers on the grill, a Bud Light Lime and happiness.

After our eventful weekend, it's no surprise that around 9pm I was falling asleep on the couch.

That's it for my weekend! Hope yours was productive/relaxing/fun or some combination of all of those!

  1. The hair looks great! As does the deck! And loving the new throw pillows - like you guys, we have darker couches, and I am looking to lighten things up in the family room with pillows, cute curtains, etc.

  2. Ya for new hair! I just love when its "done" and does something. Glad you had a good weekend with the family! We have to deck restore our deck on the roof as well and we are just not looking forward to it in 95 degree heat! But it must be done so little puppy toes don;t get caught on nails and bad boards. Enjoy summer my friend.

  3. Your hair looks wonderful! I need to get a haircut so bad!

  4. the bangs look great!! so does the deck :)

  5. Stopping by from the link up! LOVE the hair! I am way too nervous for side bangs!
