Book Review: Me Before You

I was a little behind on the reading train recently due to getting sidetracked by a really boring, slow paced book, Serena. I stopped reading it about half way through because I found myself dreading reading and thats NOT me (plus I read that it doesn't get "good" until 75% through...no thank you). After that I picked up Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Here's the Amazon synopsis (I will admit, when I read the summary I wasn't convinced I would like this book at all, but due to all of the awesome reviews, I tried it out anyway and I'm SO glad that I did):
"Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time."

I tell you, I breezed through this book. I couldn't put it down. I found myself turning off the tv and reaching for my book, or reading outside on the deck for an hour or more at a time. I think I finished the book in 2 days and I loved it.
The character development (and moreso the relationship between the two main characters) is slow developing but it's lovely. I found myself chuckling out loud at some of the things they said, and just overall really liking the characters.
This book also makes you think. And I like that.

Try this one out, you won't regret it. I'm definitely going to be checking out more books by Jojo Moyes since this one was such a hit with me!

  2. This was a really good book! I actually took a while to get into it, but once it clicked for me, I was like, "OH MY GOSH I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!" I found the ending to be uh....difficult to swallow, but also exactly what needed to happen. I won't lie though..it took me a minute to get to the point where I was okay with the ending. But yay, I'm glad you liked this book! I always love it when I see other people liking books that I like too...makes me think that probably, we should be friends. :)

  4. I've heard such, such great things about Jojo Moyes books, so I'm not too surprised you enjoyed it as much as you did. I've yet to read anything by her myself, but she's definitely an author I've been looking forward to.
