I mentioned before that my book club decided to read The Andy Cohen Diaries as a lighter read during the holidays (and basically a lot of our conversations turn to Bravo-related shows at book club anyway).
I was pretty excited to get some of the inside scoop about my favorite shows and reality "stars", plus I just love Andy Cohen.

The book is Andy's daily journal about his every day activities, happenings, encounters, experience, etc for an entire year (Sept 2013-Sept 2014).
Basically Andy's life is pretty damn fabulous. He has an awesome job, a ton of money, and some amazing celeb friends. And a cute rescue dog, Wacha, to boot!
I really liked the first 3/4 of the book. It was interesting to see a life that is 100% totally different than mine. Full of fabulosity (yes, Bravo fans, that was for you) and all kinds of late night fun. But then I got a little bored of reading the same things over and over (after all, you can only read about someone's trips to the Hamptons and outings with SJP and Kelly Ripa, etc for so long before it's not really "new" anymore....and you're just jealous haha). I did like that he spilled some dirt on some of the ladies on the Real Housewives, and their husbands, but for the really juicy stuff, he was very vague and didn't use names. That was the dirt (or "tea") that I wanted to know!
All in all it was a fun read, and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into Andy's life. I probably wouldn't have spent the $11 on it that I did, after the fact tho. It's worth the read if you can get it for cheaper, or borrow from a friend.
I heard the same thing - that you sort of like the book but then get bored because he doesn't really mention names - can you at least guess who it was or was he super vague? xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI'd totally read it if I could figure out what ladies he's referring to otherwise it would just drive me crazy trying to figure it out haha! I'm sure he has plenty of dirt he could share but I guess since he still has to see them regularly and they can be pretty mean naming names wouldn't be smart. Boo.
ReplyDeletedoes sound like a fun read but I can see how it gets boring quickly. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI do have a weakness for autobiography type books. I really loved Jen Lancaster's book because they we're all sooo hilarious! But I get what you're saying about reading the same thing over and over again. Gets a little repetitive. Great review!
ReplyDeleteI've been so curious about this book. Thanks for sharing, Jenn. I'll wait until I can get it cheap on Amazon:)
ReplyDeleteI loved his first book, but haven't read this one yet. Haha I really just want the Real Housewife gossip.
