Commitments Check-in

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your sweet comments yesterday about Cooper and my dad. It means a lot to me to have so many thoughtful people out there to make sure that things are ok and to just check in. You all are awesome!

Now, on to a more happy note and the real reason for this post:

I didn't make any new years resolutions, but towards the end of the year, after some moments of personal reflection, I resolved to make some changes for myself in order to be a better me.

It's been about a month since I made these personal commitments, so I figured now would be a good time to check in on those changes.
I committed to not over-thinking things, having faith, and focusing on the positives.
I think this is a win for me. There are things that I can't control, and definitely some crazy people out there who I can't control, so my focus has been on the fact that I can't control crazy, I can just control myself, my focus and my reactions. Every day I've taken a moment to think of all the things that I'm thankful for and I believe it's really helped me frame my thoughts and feelings into the positive.
I committed to not responding to other peoples' negativity.
I also consider this a win!  I've stayed away from people who are toxic to my life (in person, on-line, etc) and haven't paid any mind to them. They are doing them--whatever that entails--and I have no awareness of it, which is fine by me. Frankly, the only time I've thought about any of the toxicity is when I've reflected on the positive things that have sprung up in my life since letting go of the bad stuff.  It's incredible all of the amazing people that come into your life when you fully let the negatives go!

I've also figured out ways of dealing with some really overbearing parents that I work with (one in particular who's been extremely challenging), which has helped decrease the work stresses, another goal that I'd set for myself.

I committed to being healthy.
Maybe not so much during the holidays (who did?), so I give myself a pass on that one. But afterwards, I jumped back into gear, and even on the days that I was totally not motivated to work out, I did it anyway. I bought the Piyo DVD set and am waiting for that to arrive, and I've been making plans to go to yoga with one of my friends who's mega into it. I've been making better food choices whenever possible, and not drinking as much--haven't been drinking at home at all, and drinking less when out with friends.

So overall, I'd say, so far, really good! I'm feeling good, recognizing the great things and people in my life, being thankful for the new ones that have popped up, and am treating myself well!

I'm definitely looking forward to continuing these positive steps to being a better, healthier, happier me!

  1. Great job girl!!! I definitely am not having as much wine at home as I did in the Fall (probably because Scandal isn't on LOL)!!! Love the one about not responding to other people's negativity...it's so hard to do, but once you're on that path it's the best!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
