I didn't have a post scheduled for today because this week has been a little crazy, but as I was driving in to work I heard a story on the radio and it reminded me of something and I figured I may as well share it with you.
The other weekend MG went on a guys trip with some friends, most of whom are either married or engaged. There are two guys in long term relationships and one of them has been talking to MG about where he got my engagement ring, etc and had apparently been to see the jeweler he used, etc.
MG was telling me about their conversation (I love hearing what guys talk about on these trips, especially when it turns to engagements, relationships, babies etc), and he had asked the friend if he had any special plans for how he was going to propose to his girlfriend. The guy kinda shrugged and said "meh, not really" and either said or eluded to the fact that it wasn't that big of a deal.
Which, in the grand scheme of things, I guess it isn't, or certainly doesn't have to be--however, MG's response made me smile. He said:
"Really? Don't you think it's kind of exciting to plan something really special that she'll remember for the rest of her life? It's one of the biggest days that she's been looking forward to"
Those obviously were not his exact words, but the sentiment was the same. And it made me smile. I remember asking him "is that how you felt?" and he said
"Yeah, it was really fun trying to plan something to surprise you and make it extra memorable for both of us"
And I sorta fell in love with him all over again.
Sometimes, even tho you know that someone loves you and cares for you, it's that extra moment of hearing the thought behind something that makes it really hit home or remind you again.
I really do feel lucky to have MG, because, I could have ended up with a guy who was "meh" about things.
MG isn't Mr. Romantic all the time, but he certainly is thoughtful, and when he does little things, or shares stuff like this, it means even more to me.
So, today I definitely realize that I'm lucky.
And I just got the chills!! Absolutely love you both as a couple :) xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
