TV Talk

Sorry for being a little M.I.A. the last couple of days. Starting summer school and dealing with bathroom reno stuff just left me wiped the last couple of days so I didn't have the energy to devote to this space.

But, I'm back! And I'm here to talk TV...namely Bachelorette, Real Housewives of OC and a celeb couple.

First up, Bachelorette:
This week was basically a week of consternation, fear, regrets, and a whole bunch of worried faces:
As much as I love to recap everything that happened in the episode, it was kind of a snoozefest of worry this week. Kaitlyn worried about the guys finding out about her sleeping with Nick.
Shawn worried about how Kaitlyn is feeling about him, after apparently telling him one night that he was the one.
The other guys worrying about why Kaitlyn is worrying.
Nick worrying about whether Kaitlyn regrets sleeping with him.

And then there were some dates mixed in there in Ireland. Here's an Instagram photo from Nick:
I do have a couple of thoughts/revelations:
-Joe's hair looked slightly less like Sonic the Hedgehog this week, which was a good thing.

-Ben H looks like a cross between Seth MacFarlane and previous Bachelor Jason Mesnick:

-Even ridiculously good looking Ryan Gosling look-alikes sleep with their mouths open on bus trips:

-The Bachelor producers love leaving people stranded places once they get dumped. Especially on 2:1 dates. Last season it was leaving Kelsey and Ashley I in the desert. This season JJ gets left on an island while Kaitlyn and Joe sail off in a boat and Cupcake gets left on a cliff while Kaitlyn flies away in a helicopter.
At least she left Cupcake with the rest of the picnic. And the blanket to dry his man-tears.
The big take aways:
JJ, Ben Z, Tanner and Cupcake are dunzo. (I kinda forgot about Tanner until he got the boot).
I had read in Us Weekly that Ben Z was not there "for the right reasons" and had been waiting for that information to come out this season, but it didn't. He actually broke my heart when he left, along with his heartfelt, super sweet comments about Kaitlyn. (Clint and Ian--take note. That is how a real man behaves. #futurebachelor)
They are changing the overnight dates/hometown dates. The hometowns dates are only happening with the final two men now, instead of the final 4. And now Kaitlyn is narrowing it down to 3 guys (from what I understood), instead of the usual 4. But we have to wait for that next week of course.

We'll see what next week entails!

Real Housewives of OC:
My main comment has to do with how things were handled by Meghan with Shannon.

The Backstory:

Meghan called Shannon out of the blue to ask for help with a charity she was doing. Shannon didn't know/understand who was calling her and was busy with her kids in the car, so she was short with Meghan. Meghan also used her maiden name when she identified who she was, which was confusing. Meghan confronts Shannon about it on a weekend trip and goes a little nuts on Shannon. Shannon responds by going a little nuts on Meghan.
What we didn't see in the show, according to Shannon's social media, is that Meghan says to Shannon, during their argument: "You think you're famous? You're not that famous. My husband is famous"
Ew. Just ew.
Meghan then decides that she isn't going to invite Shannon to the charity event, even with several people telling her she should reconsider. I thought it was mean. I didn't like it.
I DID like how Vicki said she wasn't going to go if Shannon was being excluded, and then took Shannon out to dinner so she wouldn't be the only one not going to the event.
And, I liked how all of the other women showed up afterwards to hang out, too.

As a side note, I'm not a fan of how Meghan's husband talks to her and/or treats her. Vicki has shared (on WWHL) that he talks to Meghan like a child. But that's neither here nor there for this issue, just an observation.
Im curious to see how Meghan fares during the rest of the season. And as Jim Edmunds' third wife.

I have to take a minute and say how sad I was when I saw that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce. I know there have been rumors going around for a bit about that, but I'd hoped it was just that: rumors.
I've read that the primary cause is Ben's gambling. Whatever the reason is, I'm extremely sad. I loved them as a couple--they always seemed so down to earth. I'm so bummed :(

Those are my thoughts on some of the tv shows and happenings so far this week.
What do you think about any/all of these shows and topics?

  1. I'm pretty sure I would have done the same thing Megan did and not invite Shannon into my home when she treated her the way she did...I mean it's her party and she can do what she wants to LOL...I also think Shannon takes things WAYYYYY too far and blows up at nothing, but if megan said that her husband was really famous then that is gross!!! Sad to see another ben and jen not make it...I feel more sorry for their kids because how weird it must be for them to see dad on "the property" but not at home! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. I totally agreed with Meghan's side until I heard more and saw this week's episode. Not cool. I thought I was going to like Meghan but she definitely seems to be on her high horse. You never purposely not include someone, especially when it's a charity event. This season seems like it's going to have plenty of drama... but then again, when does it not?! And Ben and Jennifer. Just wow. Can't believe they've been separated for 10 months already!

  3. I don't watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette, so I don't understand anything that goes with them. I used to watch the OC, but I liked the good old days when it was fun to watch these ladies being glamorous with a lifestyle so far from mine. I feel like it's all about creating drama now. It bores me.

On to their divorce, it breaks my heart. I felt just like you: that they were the nicest most down to earth couple of hollywood.

  4. i agreed about this week's bachelorette - BORING! and i'm shocked at how much she cries on this season. i didn't see that coming!
oh the OC drama - megan does seem a bit harsh right out of the gates.. but who knows!
and i'm SOO upset about ben and jen!

  5. I'm pretty bummed that the hometown dates won't be happening until the final two, since that is always my favorite episode of the season!

  6. So far, I can't help but think that Kaitlyn is just really stupid when it comes to making good decisions with men. Guess I'll wait to make that judgement toward the end, but she has definitely not impressed me so far:(

Really hoping we see Ben Z again as The Bachelor. His last comments of "I'm trying" in reference to finding a nice girl were so heartbreaking. He seems so sweet and like such a good guy - too good for Kaitlyn in my opinion!

I can't even with Ben and Jen. I really thought they would make it for the long haul with their adorable farmers market and playground trips - so down to earth. I'm so sad about their split:( Just goes to show that no one is exempt from tough times I guess!

  7. The Bachelorette was just a hot mess this week - I honestly don't blame Shawn for being upset at all! When you tell someone they're the one but continue to date other men, obviously it's going to be confusing and heartbreaking. Plus, I found it hysterical that Kaitlyn was so upset with herself for saying those words to Shawn and having the other guys find out rather than they physical approach she took with Nick. Oh, and I was totally floored about Ben Z. being sent home - he seems like a decent guy! In other news, I also am sad about Ben and Jen - I always thought they were in it for the long haul, but it just goes to show we never know what's going on except what we read in the tabloids!

  8. I am so confused as to where we are in this Bachelorette season because of the format changes. Shawn is way to needy for me. I'd have to cut him loose. I like Ben H and Jared. They are super chill and just do their own thing.
I agree that Jim treats Meghan like a child. How did they even meet? I'm pretty sure that he was on the prowl for a trophy wife.

  9. Snoozefest somes it up – I started doing stuff on my laptop and by the end I think I was barely paying attention – I think I’m ready to just go right to Bachelor in Paradise. I still have to catch up on OC so I skipped over that but I was so sad about Jen and Ben too!

  10. I can't figure out Megan yet. It seems like she's just finding a way to create drama for the show. Shannon is a little cukoo, but I think she is a good person. I guess we'll see!

  11. I'm still not sure how I feel about Meghan, I think she's acting way more entitled than she is for being the third Mrs. Edmonds and you can tell how young/immature she is compared to the rest of the ladies. Shannon definitely freaks out over nothing, but she's very sensitive after everything that's been going on with her and her husband. Cut the woman some slack Meggers!

As for the Bachelorette, Shawn was my favorite but he's becoming way too needy. I'm hoping he chills out and can make it til the end and hopefully can get past her sleeping with Nick :-P

  12. I cannot wait to see how the Bachelorette turns out next week! That is one recap I cannot wait to write! RHOC is already getting crazy. I saw on Twitter that Megan & Shannon had made up but I don't understand why Megan had to confront her about it in the first place. They were getting along fine so she should have just left it at that. Oh Ben & Jen, that makes me so sad. I really thought they were a couple who would make it!

  13. I just don't know how I feel about Kaitlyn. I feel absolutely no sympathy for her at all. But I will be interested to see how everything turns out. So obviously I will keep watching. Can't wait to see how Sean reacts to the news that she slept with Nick. Juicy stuff.

With the RHOC I'm torn. On one hand I'm thinking, Meghan get over yourself. If Shannon doesn't want to help you she doesn't have to. And on the other I'm thinking, Shannon, you didn't need to be so rude when Meghan called you asking for help, regardless if she gave you the wrong last name or not. And Meghan went too far confronting Shannon at the champs party. Some of the stuff that came out of her mouth was so bitchy. It was totally rude not inviting Shannon to the party. Again get over yourself Meghan. I think she's gonna be one drama is centered around this season.

So sad about Ben and Jen. They were my favorite Hollywood couple.

  15. I so can't wait for next weeks Bachelorette seeing how Shawn reacts to Kaitlyn sleeping with Nick will be so interesting! Also I agree with you about Ben and Jenifer's divorce, so sad. They were such a down to earth couple and I really enjoyed them together.

  16. I can't watch the Bachelor shows anymore. They got too crazy for me.

Mind you, I DO watch The Real Housewives, and they are also crazy.

  17. I also was hoping the Ben and Jennifer rumors were just rumors. They seem like wonderful parents and people so hopefully the split will be relatively smooth and they will be great co-parents.

I actually like Kaitlyn, and I think she is hilarious when she's not worrying or crying.

    Do you watch RHONY?
