This is a hodge podge list of 5 things I think that you need in your life, mainly because they've made my life a little better and easier!

Baking Mats
I got these as part of a bridal shower gift and have used them to make a variety of things from meatballs to cookies (like I showed you earlier in the week). You don't have to scrub your baking sheets anymore with these, and everything cooks on it, without the need for grease or oiling. If you haven't gotten a set yet, go get one--you won't regret it.
The ones I have here are identical to the Sur La Table Silpat ones, but these are $10 cheaper!
Amazon $16.95 for the set |

You know how your sweaters, shirts, and leggings sometimes get those little fabric "pills" or nubs on them, especially after you wash them? It makes clothes look older and kind of ratty. Well, this will solve your problem! You can find this at Target for $6 (I found it in the laundry detergent section). All you do is run it over your clothes, in the areas that have the pills, and they instantly disappear!
We even used this on our fabric ottoman that had some pills, and it looks brand new!
Here are some others on Amazon.

Immersion Blender
If you like making soups, especially thicker ones, then you probably want an immersion blender. Have you ever had a recipe that told you to take portions of the soup out, blend it in a blender and then put it back in? Ain't nobody got time for that! Get an immersion blender. They blend things up, work fast, and are small enough that you can store them pretty easily. I've used this a bunch when making soups and things in my crock pot.
You can get one on Amazon for $33 here. Or, keep an eye out on Groupon--that's where I got mine two or so years ago for I think $15 (yes, it's called "Big Boss" which makes me laugh). It's worked like a charm!
Phone Screen Protector:
anti-glare, anti-fingerprint
But not just any screen protector, the anti-glare, anti-fingerprint screen protectors are the best. I've dropped my phone several handfuls of times and I have a regular case (not a lifeproof one), but I DO have this awesome screen protector, and I've never shattered my screen. (*insert me knocking on wood right now*)
I love these protectors because they don't have all of the fingerprint smudges that you get with some of the other kinds. And the anti-glare makes it easy to see in direct sunlight. Amazon has some great options for pretty cheap!
You can find them for $6-12, which is much less expensive than getting a screen replaced!
A good pair of texting gloves
It's getting colder, which means it's almost glove weather (if it's not already where you are). The last thing you want to be doing in the cold is pulling your hands out of any warm gloves or mittens you have in order to text. I found a great pair for $12 at Costco that have an awesome grip, and the texting part actually works (I can't tell you how many I've found that work like total crap once you put them on). These have been worn in the mornings on my cold drive to work. Not only do I have good texting abilities in these (without many errors from super bulky fingertips), I have an awesome grip on my coffee cup, too. Win!

Do you have any of these items? Any others on your list of must-haves?
I have the last two but need the first three - especially baking sheets - I love me some cookies!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI need one of ALL of these things! For the screen protectors I finally moved from the anti-glare ones to the glass screen protector (mainly because I got one heck of a hookup from a family friend) and it's awesome. Knock on wood neither of us ever deal with a cracked screen...ever! xo
ReplyDeleteMy mother called me and told me about those texting gloves from Costco the other day. I'l have one of everything in this list please! I have that immersion blender and it's amazing! I also will be purchasing that fabric device because I have a super soft sweater that is in need of a de piling.
ReplyDeleteUm, I think I could use the first three things and the last one for sure (I have several pairs of cheap texting gloves). I insisted on an immersion blender two years ago and guess how many times I've used it: once. But I've looked at Silpats several times and never bought them.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any of these things! Never even thought about them (except for maybe the texting gloves). I'll keep my eye out for that immersion blender on groupon. I've never had the need for one but I'm sure I could find a reason...Trish - tales from trish
ReplyDeleteYou always find the most amazing things, seriously! First that water bottle now ALL of this?! Yes please! Although I probably don't need the gloves lol! Those baking mats are awesome and the clothing shaver, didn't even know something like that existed! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny...I just bought those same texting gloves for running from Costco...I love them! Also, I just ordered and received my fabric shaver - I love it! My tights all look new now!!
ReplyDeleteI am following you and you can follow me back at Annster's Domain if you want!
Great post and I love all of your must haves!!!
I love the sweater razor thing. I need that. Love my silpat mats, total must for the kitchen and texting gloves. I tend to get a new pair every year because I lose mine. I do not have an immersion blender... I always just dump it in the big one... maybe ill ask for one for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get those baking mats and the fabric shaver!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list! I have an immersion blender, but NEED everything else. Especially that fabric puller.

silicone mats? immersion blender? YES!! the first time i made butternut squash soup, i didn't have an immersion blender and had to dump out the contents into my blender, blend, then dump it back into the crockpot. nope, way too much trouble so i went out and bought an immersion blender. i love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm ordering those baking mats today. That is genius!
ReplyDeleteI have an immersion blender, but I've never used it before! I feel like I need to find a recipe in order to try it out though! I never would have thought to use a fabric shaver before, but it looks like amazing results!
ReplyDeleteI love my fabric shaver! I had no idea that baking mats existed! I need some for sure.
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to get some baking sheets, I hate scrubbing pans! That's why I love my crockpot liners so much :)
ReplyDeleteThe immersion blender and fabric piller are a must!
ReplyDeleteI need a good pair of texting gloves.
All of these things are so cool! I have texting gloves and they really come in handy...no pun intended haha! The baking mats look really cool and it seems like they would make clean up so much easier since baking sheets can be tough to get clean sometimes!
ReplyDeleteFabric shaver, what is this genius idea you speak of?!?! I loathe those little fabric pulls on sweaters and leggings so this needs to be in my hands asap, ordering on Amazon now!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, we have an immersion blender and NEVER thought to use it for soups! Also, that fabric shaver is amazing and I definitely need to get one ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI love my fabric shaver! Best thing ever cause everything I own pills.. I swear!
ReplyDeleteI just saw baking sheets at Costco yesterday and now I'm regretting not getting them! They'll be perfect for all of the upcoming holiday baking especially. And I neeeed an immersion blender! I don't know why I don't just buy one already!
ReplyDeleteI need a fabric shaver, like yesterday. Picking one up at Target tomorrow! Thanks for the tips, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteThose baking sheets and the fabric shaver - I NEED! What great picks!
ReplyDeleteThat fabric shaver is amazing!! I remember I used one when I was little and shaved a hold into my favorite shirt haha oops... I wouldn't push so hard if I used one now of course:) I need a baking sheet! I always try to bake things right on aluminum foil but it's so flimsy!
