Confession Session

Hey friends! It's Thursday for real (which is good because on Tuesday I swore it was Thursday...I think DST is getting to me!) and it's St. Patrick's Day. Are you wearing your green so that no one pinches you?

I'm linking up with Jess for some confessions this week!
I confess that....

.....whenever my gas light comes on and tells me the range I have left to drive, I start getting stressed, especially because it flashes at me the whole time I'm driving!
.....pretty morning skies make the morning drive so much happier and enjoyable. I'm not sure why, but lately, they've reminded me of my dad.

.....blog friends are the best!

.......my heart broke a little bit on Monday when I had to say good bye to my favorite little guy at work before he and his family move. He brought me a Tervis tumbler which I adore (and needed since I broke mine the day before). Gonna miss him so much!
.....I have a coworker who is incredibly sweet, super kind and friendly.....but she smells. Like, reeeeeeally bad. I'm not the only person who notices it, either. #P.U.

......I'm not planning on partaking in any St. Patty's day drinking tonight. At least not in the form of green beer. Perhaps Ill celebrate with some white wine instead :)
{via} Well, maybe not ALL cheap white wine :)
.......yesterday morning I drove to the doctor for a blood draw. I left the house at 630 and left the doc's at 7. I made it about 5 minutes from work (after driving right past my house) before I realized that I forgot my work laptop at home. So, back I went, 20 minutes, and then another 20 minutes BACK to work. By the time I got there, I'd been in the car for 2 hours. Doh!

......when you live in a city where public transit is a big deal, and they decide to shut down the entire Metro system for 24+ hours, it wreaks havoc on traffic.  This is also not a good day to forget your laptop at home (ask me how I know this).
{via}
.....my sweet work friends set up a Google doc for our coworkers to bring in little treats for me throughout the next few weeks, to help brighten my days. SUPER sweet! My assistant principal was supposed to bring me lunch yesterday and I was nervous she'd forget, so I brought leftovers, but in the morning she said she was getting me lunch, asked what I wanted (wrote it down), and asked what time I ate lunch and I said "12:30". Well, 1 pm rolls around and no lunch (I get 30 minutes for lunch). Three separate people track her down, she calls my room and asks me what I ordered, then tells me she didn't order what I asked for and I guess brought me whatever was leftover from what she ordered, which wasn't great. Sigh...I guess it's still the thought that counts, right? (Not trying to be ungrateful...it was just disappointing to wait that long, be starving, and then not get what you'd been dreaming of)

What are you confessing this week?

  1. Oh girl closing down the metro is never good...yikes!! Ahh he is seriously the cutest guy - I'm sure not seeing him every week will be tough! The lunch thing would have been a little disheartening for me as well! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. Ahh such a bummer about the lunch thing. It stinks when you have been thinking about it all day and then it doesn't work out! Forgetting my laptop is something I have definitely done before...oops! Hope you have a great Thursday!

  3. Thats annoying about lunch! Why bother to make the gesture if you can't follow through? I can only imagine how insane the metro closing was, I know it would be a disaster in Boston!

  6. I'm with you: my car beeps at me that I have 50 miles left and I'm all, "WHERE IS THE NEAREST GAS STATION?!?!" I'm so glad it's Thursday, too. I thought it was yesterday and yeah, that'll REALLY throw you off! ;)

  7. The sky always makes me think of my mom. I see parts of it that I know are her letting me know she's with me...so I get you on the sky.

  8. I hate when I end up in the car forever and a day because of something stupid I did. LOL

Your dad is saying hey to you in the mornings!

  10. I do the same thing when my low fuel light comes on! SO nerve wracking! And forgetting something and having to drive back to get it is the WORST! That happened to me last Friday. Ugh. <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  11. omg. that whole metro shutdown killed my vibe. I got to work an HOUR early because they were freaking out so much about the traffic! It was so annoying!

  12. I have done the same thing before with a laptop in rush hour.....cursing myself the whole time. Girl in my car, Mark and I both call it the heart attack beep, because they are so expensive to fix you don't know if that warning light is a catastrophic issue or just low gas. I'm terrible about always letting the light come on....I'm pretty sure it's one right now......

  13. I haaaate forgetting stuff at home! Throws off your whole day! And I feel you about the wine tonight, yes please!

  14. Do you have an Infiniti? I have the same car display as you that's why I ask. I am so bad with gas that I let it run down to where there are no numbers left. Eventually there are just dashes. Hahaha! I am also just driving in Staten Island usually and there is a gas station on every corner so I dont feel that worried about running out.

  15. I'm the same way with the gas range!! They may not have gotten the food right...or time for that matter haha...but you seem to have a nice embracing workplace! Hope your days are in fact brighter love! Muah! Happy Almost Friday!

  16. I get super stressed about the how many miles I have left on a tank too!! I panic haha.

  17. I might join you with some wine tonight and all day yesterday it was Thursday ugh too bad today isn't Friday. but I'm wearing green at work and will have some Irish food for lunch.

  18. Aww bummer about that little guy moving he's so adorable! That sky picture is so pretty! I wear green in accessories so no pinching lol. White wine sounds like a great idea to me!!

  19. Forgetting stuff at home is the worst, or even worse, leaving something you need at work and having to go back. Celebrating tonight with wine instead too. It's the thought that counts I guess, but c'mon, don't volunteer if you are going to drop the ball!

  20. So we are "supposed" to take our work laptops home with us every night in case we need to work from home the next day.. but after forgetting mine at least 5 times in a row and having to drive another hour round trip to go get it and go back to work... yeah, I started leaving mine at the office. I feel your frustration on that!!! Have a happy St. Paddy's day!! xoxo

  21. Aww your little favorite guy at work is too cute! Sad that he's leaving ya! And I have definitely been in similar situations with work before. My boss promised us lunch one day and got all tied up in a meeting, forgot about it, I hadn't brought anything etc. I was about to pass out haha- I've been there!!

  22. I get so stressed out when my gas light comes on, too! It legitimately ruins my day. Well, until I get gas :)
And the lunch things is the worst! I am not in a good place without lunch so I can see how that would be aggravating !

    ReplyDelete
  23. I always feel super anxious when the light starts flashing on my car too! I have to immediately go and fill up! We probably won't be celebrating with green beer tonight either, but white wine sounds like a great alternative!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh gosh, I'm a nervous wreck when my gas light comes on... I would FREAK OUT if it flashed, too!

  25. I can't even imagine the metro being down here in the city! I don't take public transportation but I'm sure the roads would be a mad house! Are you a teacher??

  26. Total bummer on your lunch :( Oh and the stinky co-worker too. I wish there was a nice way to let someone know that's the case but I just don't think there is!

  27. I have an extreme fear of being that smelly person, even though I have never had complaints and even get told I smell good.

You must live near DC! We lived in Alexandria for a summer for an internship and are so in love with it. We wanna move back except that it's so expensive. That I do not miss.

I never trust anyone else to feed me. I hate being hungry.

  28. That was very mean of your co-worker to forget and cause you to wait. It is awesome that your co-workers are doing that, but she shouldn't commit if she can't come through with it. I am sorry that metro was down and you spent over 2 hours in the car that day.

  29. That is frustrating about the lunch situation!
Your 2 hours in the car sounds just as bad!!!

  30. We do a lot of meal trains for anyone who has a loss in the family and I can't imagine doing that to someone who has just lost someone close to them in their lives AND is right back to work. I'm sorry sweets!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok, so it was really sweet of your coworkers to set up a few little things to help keep your spirits up. Very sweet! HOWEVER, if someone is going to participate, they need to actually participate. It's just plain rude to bring someone your leftovers as a lunch when you told them you'd get something else. Sigh. I'm offended for you on that.

I definitely think your dad is still with you, and love that you see him in the beautiful morning skies. I think you will see him in lots of ways from now on - including in ways that you would never expect. I'm sure those reminders will be very special:) Still thinking of you, sweet friend! Always here:)

  32. I always freak a little too when my gas light goes on haha

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh the lunch - I would feel the same exact way. I love how you brought leftovers because I'd seriously probably do that too. How nice of all the coworkers to set ups weeks of stuff for you though. Thinking of you a lot this week!

  34. My car doesn't have a gas light. It has the range feature, which is oh-so helpful, but I like no warning light. That thing freaks me out.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh my gosh you would be stressed hanging with me....I drag mine down passed zero every single time!! I don't know why I hate stopping for gas. I saw the news about the transit being shutdown and can only imagine the crazy that insued. Have a super weekend!

  36. Ummm that coworker lunch situation is super odd. Like I don't get her mind set at all. Freakin' weird, man.

  37. I have a college friend that lives in D.C., so she was all up in arms about the metro being shut down, too. And, I'm with you on the gas thing - even if I have like 100 miles until empty, I literally cannot focus until I fill 'er up.

  38. That's frustrating about the lunch! So sad your favorite little guy moved. xo, Champagne&Suburbs
