Thursday Confessions

I confess that....

....I was a little taken aback when my coworker told me he understood how I felt about my dad's passing, and then went on to tell me that his parents were flying to Hawaii and he wasn't able to get in touch with them for the next 13 hours. I kept waiting for the part that explained why he knew how I was feeling, but apparently that was it. He then followed it up by saying he was flying with his fiance in 2 days to meet up with them in Hawaii. Um, not the same dude, not even close. #shouldajustkeptyourmouthshut

......green donuts (or anything bread-related) is never a good idea. It just LOOKS like mold, even if it's "St Pattys day themed". #barf

.....I had a deep tissue massage on Tuesday which was glorious, and much needed. And I have a haircut appointment today! If I'm not going away on vacation, at least I'm getting pampered.

....I'm slightly obsessive about parking in the same spot in our parking lot and get territorial over it if someone parks there (it's not assigned), but it annoys the hell out of me that it's under a tree. So in Spring time, my car looks like a total sh*t mobile...how do birds crap so much??? Needless to say, I've stopped parking in that spot for the next few weeks.

....weekday walks along the water with a friend are such a nice way to heal, spend quality time, and be healthy.

.....I'm so disappointed and saddened that terror attacks like those in Brussels this week have become the norm. Just like school shootings. Why is this what the world is coming to? It's sickening and overwhelming.

.....as much as I love Spring, I hate the allergies that come along with it. Especially in the DC/MD/VA area. I've been losing my voice for the last day plus and it's all from allergies. Boo.

.....I locked myself out of the house the other day as I was leaving for my massage. I thought I had my house and car keys in my jacket pocket, but I didn't. Luckily I was able to scrounge up our spare key without too much difficulty. But I definitely panicked for a hot second.

What are you confessing this week?

  2. Ugh one time I thought I left my keys back at my parents house...luckily I found them after a crazy, frantic search of my purse. Walks really are so nice...love that the weather is cooperating to take them!

  3. Oooh your coworker...that's just...I feel like he just tried to segway REALLY badly. I'm glad you're treating yourself this week! You need it girl!

  4. Um that was no where close to what you went through. Seriously, some people. Green chocolate chip cookies are not a good idea either, just weird. Glad you got a little pampering in.

  6. Um your coworker... are you kidding me?! Not even remotely close. I would have throat punched him so you have more self restraint than I. And I am super territorial over my parking spot too! You aren't alone there girl! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  9. I am in desperate need of a massage...I work at a salon and spa, so the discount is nice and I treat myself every few months or when I'm in pain. I can't believe your co-worker said that, most times people don't think before they speak. UGH!

  10. 1. I can't breath. My car was covered in the yellow stuff yesterday. Bleh
    2. My heart hurts so much over all the violence in this world. And unfortunately I don't see it stopping anytime soon
    3. I've been thinking about getting a massage soon and this post made me want one more.

Head up lady, people don't think before they open their mouth sometimes. I'm sorry :(

  11. Weekday walks along the water sound like heaven! Especially with the warmer weather and extra daylight - I bet it's been really easy to squeeze in a few of those at the end of the day.

  12. A massage and a hair cut?!? That is like a little mini-vacay! And like you, I love the spring....just not the pollen that comes with it! It's insane the amount of pollen that covers my car in the 7-8 hours I'm at school!

  13. I love a good walk and girl try locking your kid in the house... alone. And that guy, just no. no no no.

  14. I honestly don't know if I would have been able to hold my tongue had a co-worker tried to compare the two like that. How in the world did he have the balls to say that to you? It's not the same IN THE LEAST!!! People are so stupid.

And I agree with you on the terror attacks. At this point it's not if they're going to strike again it's when and that is so incredibly sad.

Glad you're enjoying your Spring Break! :)

  15. If I had a dollar for every time I locked myself out, I'd be one rich mofo.

I am still disgusted by your coworker.

  16. People always like to say they know how I feel when I mention deployment. A 3 day business trip is not the same, friend. I feel like I've gotten used to it at this point, but I definitely see how it can catch you off guard. People don't often think before they speak.
I locked myself out once two years ago and called my husband crying and he said he thought someone had died. That's how upset I was.

  17. Ughhhhh that coworker comment still burns me. Oh girl I know keep a spare in my car after the Panera whole day event standoff when I locked myself out and had to wait for Mark to finish his softball tournament.....on the other side of the state. Never again lol

  18. SMH at that co-worker. I need to keep a spare key! We don't have one and I'm scared of when that happens. Yes to the allergies. My head feels like it's going to explode! xo, Champagne&Suburbs

  19. Hah aw, my coworker was 2 hours late today because she locked herself out. Glad you had a spare! I think people try to "help" i.e. talk out of their ass sometimes during emotional times because they don't know what to say and end up with verbal diarrhea/not helping at all. Glad you were patient with him; what an idiot. Cheers to good friends and time outside (yes, minus this disgusting pollen!). xx

  20. I can't imagine how your co-worker thought those two situations were even remotely alike. Just reading what he said to you, made me so angry.

I can't believe all of the things going on in the world. How is it possible that school shooting and attacks on people and places have becoming the norm. It's very dis-heartening and so very sad and scary.

I hear you on the pollen thing. When we're outside at work (I work at an aftercare program and we go outside from anywhere to an 1 and a half to two hours every day), my eyes are a complete watery and itchy mess. The kids come up and ask if I'm alright because it looks like I'm crying and a couple of kids asked if I had pink eye in both my eyes.

I hope you have a great weekend, sweetie!

  21. I just hope that your co-worker had good intentions when he was telling you that story? Otherwise, I would avoid him from now haha! No telling what analogy he will try and come up with next! Girl, the pollen is like no other here in Georgia!! I jokingly say that I have a Chi Omega car (our colors are cardinal and straw), well with a red car covered in yellow pollen, I've got it handled! If we were closer, I would totally be joining you on your walks!

  22. Your massage sounds heavenly! But man alive.... your co-worker! I'm sure he thought he was helping, but he was so far off base and didn't realize how insensitive it came off. Sending lots and lots of more *hugs* <3

  23. The thought of green donuts freaks me out! Just does not sound like something I would want to eat.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm with you about anything green, especially green bagels. Gross. Glad you're getting some pampering time this week!

    ReplyDelete
  25. OMG, I can't even believe someone would say that. That gets me worked up just reading about it. And allergies may be the reason spring is my least favorite season, they are the worst!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Geez talk about a lack of social skills. Shame on you co worker! I had a massage yesterday, they are the best! Allergy season is always the worst!

    ReplyDelete
  27. So jeal of your massage... you totally deserve it though girl! And loving your mani from snap. That color is perfect for spring!! P.s. your co-worker should be slapped. That's like people saying to me "gosh yes infertility is so hard, it took us 2 months to get pregnant" like um NO you have no idea and should not even be comparing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hooray for getting pampered during Spring Break! That massage sounds wonderful and like it was very much deserved! The allergies are absolutely insane this year! I've been miserable for the past two weeks, but I think that things are finally starting to settle down!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I cannot believe your coworker would think you situation was anything like his. How rude! Oh my gosh the pollen here is insane. My car has a layer of yellow as does all my outside furniture.

    ReplyDelete
  30. my confession is i keep peeing every 5 minutes. literally. and it's so embarrassing when my co worker is here with me so he can hear me pee. every. single. time.
as to confession #1 - people are really stupid.

  31. Loving your hashtags!! Here in the Carolinas, yellow pollen. Everywhere. Deep tissue massage, my once a month pleasure. Enjoyed reading your confessions and wishing you a Happy Easter.

  32. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking (or maybe they aren't thinking) when they say certain things! I'm ready for pollen season to be over already, my allergies are awful! Xo, Stephanie

  33. Some people really need to practice thinking about what they are saying before it comes out of the mouth. I mean, really. I sincerely hope that your face reflected the feelings you were really thinking - as I know you are too sweet and polite to actually say them. But I'm hoping that he somehow realized what an idiot he sounded like when speaking to you.

Enjoy that haircut girl, and super jealous of your massage! Thanks for linking up again with me:)
