Confessions and Hashtags

Ok, so I know that this link up is defunct as of late, but I still like the idea, so I'm confessing anyway!

I confess that....

......when I saw the construction workers using a sledgehammer on the outside of my school building (we're going through a renovation), I couldn't help but think that that would be a great stress reliever for the teachers. Bad day? Take a sledge hammer to the side of the building! #cheaperthantherapy
.....when I was being tailgated on a single lane road by some jerk yesterday morning, it made me laugh when he got stuck behind someone who was going normal speed (but too slow for him), and he was stuck behind him for a solid 15 minutes #slowdownassface
{via}
.....on my post yesterday about our big summer travel plans someone wrote "yay for you." and it made me feel bad. I definitely wasn't trying to brag about our trip, I'm just excited! #ohwell
{via}
*this person has since written me and shared that it was a total misunderstanding so no hard feelings!
.....I signed up for a conference in Baltimore next month with some coworkers and I about choked when the "early bird registration" AND "discounted group rate" for one day was still $185. Umm, hello conference people, you do realize that we are teachers, right? At least one of us is rolling in it #itaintme #mo'moneymo'problems
{via}
.....our HOA is still super annoying with their lack of timeliness. They STILL haven't approved our windows, despite us reaching out and the window company reaching out to them. And it's not that complicated--it's like two criteria (grids in the windows, and white framing) both of which ours meet. What's the freaking hold up? #getyourshittogetherHOA

....Cooper needs a haircut soon, but I LOVE when he's super fluffy. I feel bad when his hair is in his eyes and he probably can't see, but darn if he isn't the cutest all fluffy!
.....the idea of Hamams (bathhouses) in Turkey kind of freaks me out. I know it's something that is one of those "if you go, you have to do" kind of things, but....I dunno. The whole concept weirds me out. #heebiejeebies

....flavored seltzer water is a tease #gimmetherealstuff #oraddsomevodka
{via}
....after dealing with some parents at work, I swear to my future parent self that I won't be an overbearing parent. I won't I won't I won't. #andyoushouldnteither

.....Shaun T is my spirit animal. I freaking love that dude.

  5. Haha yes to the tailgating! I always pump my brakes and slow down, too, just to piss them off. Whoops! ;)

  6. I have heard about the bathhouses in Turkey from one of my coworkers who has been. It's something that is so different than what we are used to here in North America. I don't know if I would have the courage to try!

  9. These are awesome! I would agree that if you were a teacher taking a sledgehammer to the school would be very therapeutic! Also I feel the same way about tailgaters! If you are going to ride my ass you're basically encouraging me to slow down :)

  10. Too funny about the sledgehammer! It would be a great stress reliever at law firms too!!! I bet you are so excited about your big trip! All of those places will be so amazing to see- you deserve a fun getaway!!

  11. Um I would 100% be bragging about my trip. I feel like I did that a ton when I was going to Europe and I didn't feel bad about it at all! That person was probably jealous. you should brag! It's something very exciting and new and I think you deserve to brag a little. So brag away my dear and I know I'll still be excited for you!

  12. Haha, so many funnies in here!!!! I could go for a little sledgehammer practice every now and then. That'd be a great workout class, lol!

  13. Your HOA needs to hurry it up!! Love the sledgehammer idea haha!

  14. Amen to ALLLL of this! The sledgehammer work out is actually a thing-- super good for shoulders! I usually smack a big tire with a sledgehammer and it's intense upper body! Tailgater's, HOA's, expensive conferences and people who can't be happy for one another are lame! And you know what's not?! Your ADORABLE fluffball! Make today work, Rachel -CubicleCouture

  15. Lol I think that would be a great stress reliever! And no need to feel bad for that trip, YOU DESERVE IT!! Xx

  16. I am DETERMINED to not be an overbearing parent when my kids are in school, because of the things my husband tells me he deals with... like someone's GRANDMA (not their parent, mind you) calling about how so-and-so is a good student, and blah blah and how my husband is not a good example of a man because he gave this precious student the bad grade they deserved. That made my blood boil... parents actually calling a teacher a bad person for... umm... doing their job? How about you talk to your precious student and find out why they got that grade??? or better yet, have your almost grown up teenager talk to my husband and work out what the issue is??? Grrr.... ok, rant over. :-) and don't feel bad about talking about your trip!! it's exciting!!! I would have done the same!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I LOVE when that happens with tailgaters! Seriously gives me such a good feeling. Don't feel bad for being excited about your upcoming vacation! Some people should just keep their negativity to themselves. Now I'm going to go hide because I'm an HOA manager (but I'm fast with approvals!! :) )

  18. Don't feel bad about the trip! It inspired wanderlust in those that see it and makes me want to travel. It is a good thing! I loved insanity, Sean T is the best. I would love a sledgehammer and a Mango LaCroix with vodka now after reading this!

  19. I honestly don't understand why people think talking about good things coming is bragging. You've earned it in some way, either financially, through hard work, through good karma, whatever. I love when people share good stuff. I love when people know what they're good at and are not afraid to say it. We have no problem when people beat themselves up (well, I do, but a lot of people seem to prefer people when they're down) so we should have zero problem with people shining in any way.

  20. I agree, the sledgehammer to the building would be such a stress reliever! And I always find it funny when people are speeding along then get stuck behind a car for miles.

  21. I equally love/hate Shaun T haha! I totally think the sledgehammer thing could/should be a stress reliever.... or at least some punching bags in the teacher lounge or something ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh man, I missed your post yesterday on your travels!!! That is going to be such an amazing trip. I'm so excited for you guys and can't wait to hear all about it!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. If I just booked a trip like yours, I would totally be talking about it too because I would be so excited! I'm glad that it was all just a big misunderstanding! It blows my mind how terrible some parents are! I have a few friends that are teachers and the stories they tell me just blow my mind!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love writing confessions too. I think we should take over the link up and keep it going! I would love to sledgehammer at my work as well. Some days are too stressful and my co-workers annoy me, so this would be so helpful. I also drive slower when someone comes flying up on my tail. Had that happen yesterday and she rode my butt for a long time. But I had nowhere to go. There was someone in front of me and I am not going to ride his tail just to please the person behind me.

  25. Your trip sounds amazing, don't feel bad about it! My husband and I traveled before kids and I'm SO glad we did that! I love your teacher stories, they totally crack me up. Thankfully I am not a helicopter parent, but my coworker is and I giggle at some of the stuff she freaks out about or feels guilty about...

    ReplyDelete
  26. I absolutely LOVE that you're continuing the Confessions posts... I think I'm going to resume next week again because I'm missing them after two weeks without!

    That driving slow meme - YES! Hilarity. That is so me.

    And lawd have mercy I can't believe that your HOA still hasn't approved the windows... I would be a crazy person by now!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've used the phrase "yay for you"(and meant it in a good way!) before, now I'm rethinking using it again haha. I hope you have a great vacation...seriously haha.

  28. When my office was under renovation, all of the staff members got to take a swing at one of the walls we were knocking out. It totally made our day!

    ReplyDelete
  29. you're confessions are my favorite! Yes, hitting something with a sledgehammer would be a great stress relief! I can't believe that your HOA is taking so long. that is super annoying!

  30. Wow I would be pissed with my HOA taking so long. I don't get how they run things sometimes. We pay them monthly and then it's like pulling teeth to get answers/approvals from them. Cooper is too cute even with the overgrown fur blocking his eyes. lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. Totally feel you about the "discounted rate". My "discounted rate" for my course last weekend was freaking $525 wtf!!! Luckily my work paid because I sure was not paying for that!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ohhh, I so feel you on the tailgating thing. I am usually a super easy-going driver but when people start tailgating me....mmmm, NO! lol. I hope you don't mind, I found your blog through Courtney's From Here to Eternity, and it's so cute! I'll definitely be back!

  33. I just went to pick up the girls I used to nanny and they are doing crazy construction on their school too. Go VA /Fairfax County for putting money into the buildings.

    My friend uses a sledgehammer and a huge tire and beats the crud out of it for a workout.

    Don't let people upset you, you deserve a trip and it's your blog, of course you are going to talk about it. Haters gonna hate #byefelicia

  34. Omg tailgaters are seriously the worst, this guy the other day totally almost merged into my car because he had ants in his pants and just had to zip by...ass face for sure! Ugh sooo annoying about your HOA, I hate how long they can take, there should be a timeframe that they have to respond by. I don't know how I would feel about the bathhouse thing either, but it does seem to be a big thing in Turkey...guess you just got to try it for yourself and see what it's all about.

  35. I definitely know the parents you are talking about.. I pick my son up from school everyday at 3:20 (which is what time school lets them out) Other parents (the overbearing helicopter ones) are there at like 2:00 p.m. to line up. It's seriously ridiculous! Who has that much time on their hands?!

    ReplyDelete
  36. i dont know why people can't be happy for others. you are going on a great trip so yes, you have every right to be happy! now i'm curious to go and look to see who left that comment........

  37. I hear about those kind of parents all the time! Sledgehammer therapy? Now that's a fantastic idea! -xx Leah || Chasing Texas

  38. YES to the helicopter parenting! And yes! I wish as teachers we could conferences paid for like other careers. So frustrating that we have to pay out of pocket for continuing ed! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
