Thursday Thoughts

Happy Thursday friends! It's almost the end of the week, but today is a super special day!

THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!

In addition to that exciting note, I've got a few other thoughts and confessions swirling around in my head!

~The Kindergarten classes have had Camp-Learn-A-Lot all week at work complete with a HUGE tent in each classroom, tie-dyed shirts, and when the kids walk through the hallways they chant little campy type of chants about the things they learned this year. It's beyond cute!
~I can't believe that this is my 9th year of working in the schools and today it's complete. Next year will be the big 10! How in the world did that happen? #imold

~Speaking of being old, on Monday I moved my neck a certain way and felt like it was the equivalent of throwing my back out but with my neck. It hurt to shrug my shoulders or move my head side to side or back. Not sure what the heck happened there, but I used a heating pad on it that night when I got home from work in addition to taking Ibuprofen. Like seriously, why am I getting old? #stopit
~I have a one hour massage scheduled for Tuesday in the middle of the day. Because I can. I might schedule a facial too! #pamperme
~Not to get too political here, but I can't hold it in. Why the EFF did  the Senate veto banning people who are on terror or no-fly lists the right to buy guns? Uhh hello...if we don't want them flying, why in the freaking world would we want them to be able to purchase guns? I'm so sick of politicians being all talk and then when it comes down to it, no action! #noflynobuy
~My boss complimented me in front of the entire group of SLP's at our meeting on Monday, for how I dealt with the tough parent at my school, and for the tremendous progress the kid had made in the past year (going from only grunting, to being able to use clear words and phrases). Everyone gave me a round of applause and it was definitely a proud moment for me as a school SLP #communicationforlife
~Travelocity STILL has not resolved our issue with them cancelling our flight and not telling us. Despite many promises via Twitter messages that they will call us to work it out, it's been radio silence. I'm about to go to the Better Business Bureau and report them for holding $1300 of our money hostage because they're stupid. NEVER book with them for ANYTHING!!!! #travelocitysucks@$$

~MG and I have had almost opposite schedules all week. Monday night I got together with friends, Tuesday night he had a late work dinner, and tonight I'll be at a friend's house for a bridal shower. Looking forward to some time to catch up since it's been like two ships passing in the night (or the morning in our case) this week.

That's it for me today. I need to go finish up last minute packing in my office, and then get ready to send the kids off to Summer! Hope your Thursday is smooth and easy!

  1. Ugh, gun control in general just makes me mad! People need to use a bit more common sense. Congrats on your accomplishments at work - being recognized can really do wonders.

  4. OOf, I feel ya on the neck pain. I slept funny the other night and all day yesterday I had to swivel my desk chair around if someone came into the office to talk. I was called a zombie and a robot! Enjoy that massage!

  6. Yay for the last day of school and the massage, you should add the facial to that!! Don't even get me started on the gun laws, I could go on and on with how frustrating our govt is right now. Other countries have to be laughing at us!

  11. Congrats on the last day of school and your recognition for the progress achieved by one of your students. Wow, that is horrible about Travelocity! We completed a trip with them a few weeks ago and while we were away we got an email saying our flight home was canceled. We reached out to United directly who had no clue why Tavelocity would have sent an email like that because our flight was not canceled. I'm going to have to think twice about booking with them now. 15. Happy Last Day of School. I totally think you should get a facial as well as a massage. You deserve it. I cannot believe Travelocity, that is terrible! If the flight was canceled, I don't understand why they are not refunding your money. Have you contacted their legal office? I would contact them.

  19. Yay for the last day of school!!! I think the problem with that ban passing is how they are going to handle the no fly list. Apparently a lot of people get put on there by accident for having a common name and it can take YEARS and even going to court to get off there. Hopefully they'll be able to address that issue and then make non-flyers non-buyers. In my opinion, that should have been addressed already. The no-fly list should be a priority and they should have been making sure it was correct. I was reading about one person who they wouldn't even tell them why they were on there. That's just crazy! Enjoy your last day and yay for some pampering next week!

  20. Ah, happy last day of school to you!!!! I'll be thinking of you and your midday spa treatments next week while I'm slaving over the computer. #CanIPleaseRetireNow

And girl - YES TO THE NO GUNS FOR NON-FLYERS. I mean, why would anybody think that it was OK for someone on the no-fly list to buy a gun?? Jeez. These politicians are just off their rockers.

  21. Totally not on the same level as your crappy situation, but bright house has been doing the same thing to me. The people on twitter say one thing and then RADIO SILENCE and then I'll get a message from them about how they were happy they could help and could I please rate them? NO. I hate when companies clearly do not communicate with their social media team. Report Travelocity for sure!

  22. Boo to Travelocity!! Hope you can get that figured out ASAP, so annoying. But YAY to a massage next week! Best way to spend a Tuesday afternoon ;)

  23. I would be so pissed about Travelocity...how ridiculous! I have used them several time before but will never again. On the bright side, enjoy your summer vacay and pampering!

  24. Ugh that is so ridiculous about travelocity! I would be livid!

  25. Yay for the last day of school!
And I've had moments where I've sneezed and thrown my neck out. It's the worst.
    Enjoy that massage :)

  28. Government in general just makes me ragey lately. UGH. And Travelocity??? DOUBLE UGH. I agree with a commenter above - have you contacted their legal dept? I have never booked with them, and now based on your experience, never will. Hope it gets resolved soon! But in good news: Yay for the last day of school! Woo to the hoo!!! So happy for you!

  29. HOORAY for the end of school! WTF for Travelocity being money-bandits?! That is ridiculous! BBB reporting is a really good idea. And maybe even a threat to take them to small-claims court.

I am dead over that cat getting pampered! I want to be just like him, haha! xoxo

  30. Yay for the public work compliment! Seems like those should be given out more often :) Hooray for the end of school - enjoy that massage. Hope you've got a fun summer to do list in the works!

  31. I cannot believe that they said that it's ok for them to be on the terror/no-fly list, but still able to buy guns...how does that even begin to make sense?!?! Woohoo for getting a great compliment in front of the rest of the staff!! UGHHH Travelocity sounds seriously awful, can't believe they won't just call and resolve your issue!!
