Thursday Thoughts

It's Thursday, and hopefully as you read this I either have a snow day or delay (update: I don't), which would be super weird considering the last three days the temps have been in the upper 60s and lower 70s, but this tired and sick teacher will take a snow day please and thank you!

I figured I'd share some random thoughts floating around in my head lately:

~I wish parents were more understanding about scheduling meetings. We had parents at my school who are requesting a meeting with 8+ staff members (half of which are not based at my school) for two days later. And they did it at 10pm, and then told us that if we couldn't meet, the next time they could meet was in 2 weeks and that's "unacceptable." I know some doctor's offices you can't get in with 2 days notice and that's only coordinating ONE doctor. #giveusabreak

~I wish I could somehow block out all politics-related stuff from every aspect of my life when I want/ need to. I feel like I can't escape it: it's on the news in the morning and evening, it's on social media, it's on the internet, and then it ends up in my dreams at night. I need a bliss bubble that I can escape to from time to time. #ineedtoescape #happyplace

(Case and point: over the weekend I had a dream that KellyAnne Conway was trying to debunk all of the items on my baby registry....can you tell the two things that are at the forefront of my subconscious? lol)

~Baby girl has been super active lately. On Monday night, I was laying on my side trying to fall asleep (made more difficult with a stuffy nose), and baby girl was practicing for the olympic gymnastics team I think! I put MG's hand on my stomach and he was like "whoa! What is she doing in there?" I will admit, feeling those kicks and movements is a bright spot to my day. Sometimes I'm sitting at my desk and I just stop what I'm doing and feel her moving. It's the best.

~I got a massage yesterday after work and it was much needed. Especially after they cancelled my appointment two weeks ago and then made me wait 2 weeks to get in. I'll be excited to get a regular deep tissue massage (laying on my stomach) after baby is born.

~I half-ass watch the Bachelor now. I feel like I know almost nothing about the girls because the only thing they show are Nick and the girls making out and snippets of superficial convos. I know a LOT about Corinne who I still think is atrocious. I'm pretty over this season already. #Bachelorfail

~MG and I signed up for a childbirth class with a friend of mine from work (the one who is a week head of me) and her husband in about a month. #shitjustgotreal

What random stuff is floating around in your noggin?

  2. NIck is like the worst Bachelor ever. There's no draw to him anyway...like, marry a professional Bachelor? No thanks.
3 cheers to your thoughts on parent meetings. I can't even...

  3. i agree with the political stuff blowing up social media. i get that people are super upset (and rightly so) but sometimes it's just too much negativity :(

  4. I cannot stand Corinne and will not officially like Nick until he gets rid of her. Feeling the baby move is the best, I really miss that!

  5. Ugh the parent meetings have to be so frustrating to deal with. That would drive me batty.

  6. We are so over the Bachelor this season too. We watch snippets & fast forward through the rest! If he's down to 6 and doesn't have strong feelings yet...Houston , we have a problem. Those parents sound ridiculous! We have clients that act like that sometimes but I just tell them that everyone has a busy schedule and if it's last minute they have to work around ours. Tough love but it is what it is :)

  7. I think you and I are just about the same amount of weeks pregnant. This week I've also been feeling my baby girl doing crazy things in my stomach! Like, I swear as of now I'd be willing to bet money on her future career as an Olympic gymnast :)

I'm also right there with you on the political stuff, nobody needs that sneaking in their dreams at night!

  8. Kellyanne dreams NOT cool! hahaha
Yay for baby movement! When my friend was pregnant it was crazy how much the baby moved sometimes and you could see her stomach move! It is amazing and scary you grown them inside you! :)

  9. Ah I cut the bachelor out of my life two years ago and have never looked back, it is getting worse I guess! So over politics too, facebook is awful. Enjoy those little sweet moments when she moves, I cannot imagine how cool that must be to experience that! Hope you feel better!

  10. The best way for me to block out anything political is not pick up any electronic device, watch regular cable, or listen to the radio. It's important to disengage then get back in it when you feel like you can. I can't say I'm over politics though - by very definition it is about all of us and it's important.

I am WFH today. It was too much to deal with this morning. Now it's stopped and the sun is out a bit. Weather is insane.

  11. Agreed on The Bachelor! This season is really bland, and I feel like they aren't showing any depth to any of the contestants. Cheers, Laura

  12. Ugh, I've been half-ass watching the Bachelor, too. I can't stand Nick and I can't stand Corrine so they're basically perfect together. I think both of them are just media whores! Haha.

  13. Agree with you on the Bachelor, this season has been lack luster. We know nothing about the girls. Nick talking about sex has dominated the whole season. OMG to that dream about Kelly Conway. I still think we need to be aware, but I'm really sick of talking/reading/hearing about politics!

  14. Ooh a massage sounds really nice right now. That gif of the cat getting a massage is absolutely adorable!

That's crazy about the parents wanting a meeting, but I'm not surprised. Parents often don't treat teachers the way they should. It's like they think teachers live at school and are at their beck and call all day long. Sigh.

  15. I'm so over politics too. I don't want to hear anymore about it, but I keep seeing Trump when I sign into aol & people are posting on fb. Ugh.
I agree, the Bachelor isn't that great this season. There are a few girls that I like, but I'm not really a fan of Nick anyway.

  16. Parents, parents, parents, lol sometimes I really just can't with them at school! Not only do some students think we live, breathe, eat, and sleep at school, some students parents do as well! Hope you enjoyed your massage!

  17. Seriously a meeting at 10pm? That is totally not cool. That is bedtime. I can't believe them. Yay for a massage and relaxing. I am sorry you are sick and hope it gets better soon.

  18. The Kelly Anne Conway/Registry dream is a little funny and terrifying all at once! Don't trust her #alternativefacts!! Ugh, sleeping with a belly and a cold is an olympic sport in and of itself!! Hope you guys are staying warm up there! XOXO, Rachel

  19. I'm with you on the politics stuff. I deactivated my facebook because I'm so tired of it. Bummer that you didn't have a snow day! We had one but the snow was over and the roads totally fine by 9:30, so I think they were a little too cautious. Although I can't complain!
