Wedding Wednesday: Hypes and a Gripe

This is probably not your standard Wedding Wednesday post, since mine is going to be about some awesome stuff going on, as well as a gripe that I've been having lately.

Wedding Wednesday
Hype:
We got our wedding bands. Mine is an eternity band made from the same diamonds around my engagement ring band. My engagement ring was specially designed and the little diamonds around the band are called blaze diamonds. When I was looking at bands, the guy suggested we do my wedding band in blaze diamonds, as well. He said he'd never done it before, which would make it totally unique and I can't wait!

Hype:
I mentioned on monday that we got a really great discount on our rings because I found out that the guy who was selling us the rings, has a daughter who goes to the same school that I work at. Small world=good discount!

Hype:
We've had people making the first purchases off of our registry. A few sets of our dishes, two serving trays, and suitcases so far and I'm SO excited! I can't wait for my bridal shower in PA!

Gripe:
I was told that our wedding registries didn't work. Why? Because people were typing in my full name (that I don't go by) as opposed to Jenn. I DO understand the confusion since most people register under their full names. Luckily it was an easy fix (I just changed my name to Jennifer on the registries so that no matter what people put in, it will come up).

But here's my major "gripe". I sent out Save the Dates with our wedding website on it. There's a reason for that. It has a link to EVERYTHING you need to know about coming to our wedding, buying a gift, where to stay, etc etc etc. If those are clicked, it takes you RIGHT where you need to go without having to type a single thing into anything.
I've been asked by people (including my own mother), what the website is, where we are registered, what the registry addresses are, what date our wedding is, and where the hotel information is. Guess what information is ALL on our wedding website, which, if you are invited to the wedding, is on your Save the Date? Bingo! EVERYTHING.

My friend told me to expect a lot more questions that could easily be answered without asking me/us throughout the rest of the process. So, this will be my test in patience I guess.
Sorry for the gripe. I just needed to vent. Especially since I freaked out over our registries "not working" when that wasn't the case at all.

One more Hype:
Can you see the puzzle pieces from the puzzle we're doing while we have no cable or Internet? haha
We have our wedding stamps purchased, they're on the invitations, which are sealed and ready to be sent off today! This is happening!!!

  1. Yay, invitations being sent out makes it even more REAL, if that is possible. :) It sucks that people don't read the website that you provide for them to make life easier, but it happens. I was really excited about creating a registry on MyRegistry.com because I could add anything to it, but we barely received any gifts off it because people weren't "aware" of it. Ugh. Are you a registry stalker? Because I totally was. ;)

  2. WOW!!! I have a feeling we will have the same issue with people asking questions the wedding website will answer. Oh well...

  3. That's so exciting that you have your invites ready to send out! I think ours are going out April 1st. Woo hoo! That makes it feel so so real. I remember feeling that way when the Save the Dates went out. Crazy!

And people are stupid. Ha! We have all that info on our wedding website too and I bet we get random questions about things as well. Dumb dumb dumb.

    Thanks for linking up!!

  5. Um, you will get a million more people to ask you where you're registered, where they should stay, what time your events are, etc. I discovered that the wedding website was basically useless because no one apparently read it. I got SOOOOO annoyed by this too.

  6. Ughhhhhhh! In response to your gripe. I feel the same way! We have a link to our hotel up there. We got a discounted rate of $99 a night for a WEEKEND in DC and all of a sudden, people are mad that that rate is ONLY for the weekend and not the whole week. I've been getting the same questions too though. We even have a website that has an app that you can download to your smart phone and practically no one has downloaded it because the link is 'appycouple' and they all thought it was a typo. Really? Instead of checking to see if it was a typo, you just assumed that it was? Thanks.

  7. It's amazing to me how people just don't pay attention, no matter how easy you make it for them. It happens with everything - not just weddings! So be prepared. When you guys have a baby, you'll get the same questions, lol!:)

And yay for the invitations going out. It IS happening! Woohoo!!!:)

  9. So much wedding progress happening over there! Nicely done!

I'm not going to handle those ridiculous questions very well. I just know it.

  10. I don't like your gripe about the STDs because I'm guilty of asking one of those questions you mentioned. were you referring to me?! LOL. I mean I only have your save the date at home on my fridge so instead of waiting to get home to ask you information it's MUCH easier to ask you.

  11. Doesn't it feel real that the invites are going out? Omg. I can't wait until I hit that point!

  12. Oh! Your hypes are so exciting!! We picked out my ring recently, too!!

Ah! The wedding website drama. I have heard that people are really weird and don't look at the wedding website which sucks when you go through SO MUCH effort!! The advice I've been given is just to make sure that your maid of honor and parents direct everyone to the right place. Everyone just told me to to direct them to my moh or mom because it is too stressful for the bride!!

    I hope it gets better!!

  13. Oh girl I feel your wedding website pain! Ours was plainly written on the front of our magnets and hardly anyone looked there! I could have killed some of our guests! ha Thanks for linking up!
