New Years Weekend Highlights

Is it just me or is it still kinda hard to believe that it's already 2015??
Today I go back to work after a glorious 2 weeks off for Winter Break and I'm only half-depressed about it (the half that isn't knows I'm in need of routine and no more partying! haha)

To get through today, I'm gonna give you my highlights from this weekend (which basically just felt like an extended New Years celebration....you'll see)

This weekend's highlights included:
~Cavity-free dentist trip (look ma! No cavities!)

~Finishing listening to Serial Friday morning (less than 25 hours to get through all episodes because it's just that good)
~Getting everyone I know hooked on Serial, too! ;)

~Friday night dinner with one of our favorite couple friends (after seeing them NYE and New Years day for dinner as well) at a restaurant we all love (On our menu: pitas and dip, gyros, flaming cheeses, scallop risotto, brussel sprouts, calamari, lollipop chicken, mini doughnuts and french toast dessert)
that's the flaming cheese!
~Extra dirty martini with crazy feta stuffed olives (drool!)

~Lazy rainy Saturday morning with breakfast cooked by the hubby

~Making plans for re-doing our upstairs guest bathroom
Here's one of the things we're basing our plans from
~Finished watching Mozart in the Jungle (a show on Amazon Prime--really cute, and very likable/entertaining)
{via}
~Panera lunch and shopping at Kohls for some knick-knacks to put on our newly-hung shelves in the living room. Totally unsuccessful trip but I'm still on the lookout for things! (I'd show you, but it doesn't look great right now)

~Making my way through Dark Places on the Kindle (70% done)

~Dinner with our friends/renters Saturday night at our favorite pizza spot, followed by an impromptu meet-up with almost the entire group we'd spent NYE with (including the couple we'd seen the past 3 nights in a row!) at a local bar which was insanely crowded
~getting in without paying the cover (win!)

~Ran into my friend I haven't seen in a bit who was there amongst the tons of people to watch the Steelers game

~Sunday morning 1.5 hour massage (heaven!)

~Meal planning and errands (including groceries for a healthy week of meals after the last two weeks of gluttony!)

~Quality time with the hubs at home which included cooking dinner together

~Downton Abbey premiere!
{via}
~In bed, setting my alarm again, to get ready for back-to-work (boo!)

It was a super busy weekend but also kind of relaxing too even though it doesn't sound like it, there was a lot of quality time with the couch. But now it's back to the real world!

  1. I feel you on the only being half-depressed about going back to work today thing! I'm exhausted right now but ready to get back into a routine! That flaming cheese fire is insane! I'm pretty sure if I was the guy carrying that I'd be missing my eyebrows. I read Dark Places too... definitely just as crazy and messed up as Gone Girl! Happy Monday girl!

  13. Looks likes a great weekend! I have been reading so many good reviews about Serial...I would like to jump on the bandwagon! I have been hesitant to start is because I am much more of a visual person so reading/watching is more up my alley than just listening. Hope you had a great Monday back in the swing of things!
