I've finally gotten back on the reading train and zipped through several books this past October! And there may have been a royal theme to my reads, which wasn't planned, but I didn't mind!

The Royal We by Heather Cocks:I know you've seen this floating around blog world, and so did I! It was on sale on Kindle a bit ago, so I downloaded the book for $3. I wasn't sure how good the book was gonna be--sometimes all of the hype from others turns out to be a letdown. But, let me tell you, this book was SO good! It was such an easy read, and I loved the spin on this book took on the royal family. It was almost like you could pretend that what happened in the book is what happened in reality because the details are SO good.
My advice when reading it: try not to fully plug Will and Kate into the characters. I started doing that at the start of the book and it threw me off. It's NOT their story.
I was actually sad when I was done reading this one because I just loved the characters in the book.
I rated this book 5 stars!
The Selection Series, Books 1-4, Kierra Cass
(How gorgeous are these covers??)
Let me start off by saying that I read books 1-3 in one week. Total. Book 4 took me less than a week to read. Thanks to my friend Trish for recommending these books (and then letting me borrow them from you on Kindle, too!)
Here is the Goodreads synopsis for book 1:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
These books are a SUPER easy read, and they're really interesting. Books 1-3 are their own series, and then book 4 (and 5, when it comes out next May!!! wah!) are kind of a spin-off of the original.
I liked that this was a fun mix of Bachelor and royalty in a post-apocalyptic America...sounds weird, but it's interesting! I really liked the characters, and the character development through the series.
The Selection (Book 1): 4 stars-the whole idea was interesting and I loved reading as the characters and their relationships unfolded.
The Elite (Book 2): 3 stars-I was antsy to find out what happened and was getting a little tired of the back and forth between her and her love interests
The One (Book 3): 5 stars--the story really picks up and a LOT of stuff happens!
The Heir (Book 4): 4 stars-It took me a bit to adjust to the new main character, and I didn't love her in the beginning (she's kind of a brat), but I liked how her character develops and changes through the story.

LOVED both of these. I zipped through the Selection as well. I hate that we have to wait so long for the next one! That's what happened to me after I finished the last book in the Selection. I first read them on my drive moving back to Texas from Florida and had to wait a whole year for The Heir.
