Weekending Highlights: SnOMG

Happy Monday friends! Did you have the snowzilla storm hit you? If so, I hope you survived, stayed warm, and kept your power. We made it through just fine and have been getting our exercise with shoveling!
Schools have already canceled in the area through Tuesday, so that tells you just how much we got!

My snowy weekend highlights included:

~Grabbing breakfast with my friend Friday morning at La Madeleine before the snow
~Testing driving the Nissan Rogue (again), and potentially working out a deal

~Hunkering down by noon with snow flurries starting around 2pm

~a cozy night in with MG and Cooper snuggles
~MG shoveling off the walkway twice before bed (got about 4-6" before we went to sleep)

~waking up to a bunch of snowy landscape, doors packed with snow, snow-covered cars and blustery wind
~shoveling, and attempt #1 to get Cooper to go to the bathroom outside (fail)

~a day spent in PJ's (minus when we put on snow gear), getting a puzzle started, and getting caught up on some tv
~mid afternoon shovel session--MG was the good guy he is and helped the neighbors shovel out their places.
~a walk around the neighborhood (of course, during the height of the windy/snowy time); walked into the middle of the normally busy road by our house...but we were able to run around and play in it without fear of getting run over
~made my mediterranean pasta bake for a hearty and absolutely delicious dinner (with leftovers!)
~finally watched The Intern, while enjoying a bowl of moose tracks ice cream (yum!!)--really enjoyed the feel-good nature of the movie. And the ice cream :)
{via}
~got Cooper to go to the bathroom outside after 3 separate attempts (his face: "why are you doing this to me????")
~night time shovel session: MG taking a rest in his "snow chair"
~Digging out both of our cars...mine had significantly more snow drift than MG's car
Got our workouts in with all of the shoveling
~much-deserved morning coffee

~shoveled off the last layer of snow from the deck...which was over the bench level of our deck (plus 5 more inches that were shoveled Friday night)
~MG was helping neighbors shovel out for about 4 hours and I was out for 2...omg were we sore!

~veggie-packed black bean soup in the crock pot for another yummy dinner

~lots of time for Kindle reading, puzzle-doing, and closet clean outs

~cozy couch time

As you can tell, our weekend involved a lot of snow lol. Luckily everyone was safe and we made it through which was the important part. Getting some extra time with MG and Coop was icicles on our snow-cake (get it? icicles instead of icing? Oh man...maybe I've been stuck inside too long! lol)
Linking up with Biana and Meghan today for Weekending

  2. That pasta bake looks so good! We ended up with 22 inches and I need to try and get to work today. I'm afraid I'm going to be one of those cars who is stuck in the middle of the street!

  3. I'm laughing at trying to get your dog out to go potty. We have three little ones and two are senior dogs who shiver at the door and take one look, turn around and won't go unless we pick them up and stick them in the little patch of grass without ice. The other one, can't get him in after he goes. They are funny little things when this white stuff appears. You definitely received way more than we did here in the south. But, you all are use to it. So more down time until you go back to school. Yeah! You may be able to complete that puzzle.

  4. So much snow!! It's so hard because you start going stir crazy because you want to go outside - you go outside and it's just too cold LOL!! Glad you get a few more days off though! I loved the intern - it was one of my favorite movies :) xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  6. Wow! I kept watching The Today Show this weekend and they kept mentioning the insane winds that were with this snow storm. Like one area had 55 mph? How crazy! Glad y'all were able to get some exercise in shoveling snow! Enjoy your day off from school!

  7. You definitely got your workout in with that shoveling! Glad you made it through and are able to enjoy a couple days off!

  8. I still can't believe all of the snow y'all got! I would show your Instagram pictures to my husband and we'd just gawk at the sheer sight of it; us Texans have NO clue what to do with snow since Texas literally shuts it down at the meer forecast of ice or snow. Ha! We watched "The Intern," too, and thought it was so cute! Enjoy your next two days off; so jealous!

  9. I had luckily called out of work two weeks ago because I was trying to visit my sister. That is until the blizzard. Certainly worked for me (we are not yet fully plowed here!)

I share your pain with the shoveling. We had two cars completely covered and it took us 1.5 hours with two shovels to dig ourselves out. And we shoveled our path at least 3 times.

i will say the highlight was to leave in the middle of the storm to walk around and play outside. We were the only souls trying to enjoy that blizzard around here. :)

  14. How delish looking is that Mediterranean pasta?! Glad you guys stayed safe in the snow, and did not take my advice to just relax and not worry about shoveling lol. I remember getting so frustrated after shoveling to just watch the snow pile up again back when we lived up north. As pretty as it is, I so do not miss the snow and the extreme cold. Stay warm and enjoy all the Cooper snuggles on your days off <3

  24. Wow... just wow. I have never experienced snow like that in my life, I can't imagine!! Other than I think it would fit in with my personality very well.. no where to go? Sit on the couch and read? Yes please! I'm glad you guys had a cozy weekend! poor Cooper though, he's like "Mom, this is B.S. I gotta to my business in this???" haha!

  26. Look at all that snow! I can't imagine that being fun to shovel...Glad everyone enjoyed the hunkerted down weekend. Did you have to go back to work today?

  27. I still can't believe the amount of snow that y'all got! I have a feeling that Dart would have been just like Cooper and not wanted to go outside to use the bathroom at all during the snowy weather. One year we had a really bad ice storm, and he literally didn't go outside until the afternoon time frame because it was too cold for him. Glad y'all are ok, and hopefully it'll start heating back up soon!

  28. Good to know The Intern is worth seeing. I've been wanting to see it in theatres and never got the chance. Glad yall we're able to enjoy the snow! I'm still jealous of your snow days! :)

  31. I have to say shoveling has always been one of my favorite workouts – you don’t even realize and you burn so many calories! Although luckily in the new house people come and plow, shovel, etc. Love that first picture of you! We loved being in our cozies all day – I think I might just suggest we have a full stay at home day on more weekends!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh my Lord! I cannot believe how much snow you all have! You definitely got your workouts in for sure:) Send some our way - we'd love more than the dusting we got over the weekend. Not sure what we'd do with the drifts you guys have, but we could stand a bit more, ha!

  33. We were going to watch The Intern but I didn't feel like paying $4.99 to rent it haha! Looks like you embraced your snow days and made the most of them! I love it!

  34. Holy heck! I seriously can't even imagine! WOW! Hoping you are finally dug out from all that snow! Thanks so much for sharing at Waiting on...Wednesday! Hope you'll link back up again tomorrow!

  35. Wow look at all that snow! I'm kinda jealous of how pretty it looks and getting snow days, but I'm definitely not jealous of all the shovelling. Oh and your dog is super cute too :)
