'Fess Sesh

It's that time of the week again, where we can unburden ourselves with our sins and confessions, by linking up with Jess for a good fess sesh!
.....I was a little underwhelmed by the Today show wedding last Thursday. It was done live, and they're whole "ceremony" (if you could call it that) was done while walking through the streets of NY, and within about 30 seconds (they said it was 3 minutes long....ridiculous). The bride was given about 2 seconds to look at herself in the mirror before walking off to meet up with her husband-to-be. The idea was cool but I feel like the emotions of the moment were lost in all of the chaos.
{via} legit, this is the 2 seconds they stopped during the "walking vows"....so weird
....I got a Night Guard last week to replace my retainer that was breaking. Uhh that thing is hideous. It's so big and bulky, I feel like a freak. Not to mention, my teeth hurt for the whole day after I took it out the next day. No bueno. I've gone back to wearing my old retainer instead. #Byebye200bucks

.....bad customer service makes me angry. If a company wrongs you or messes up in some way, they should ALWAYS offer something to try and fix it. That makes people happy. Bad customer service makes me not want to shop with you anymore.

....I haven't had a regular voice since last Tuesday morning. Allergies kicked in Tuesday afternoon and I've fluctuated between sounding like a pubescent boy, and a phone sex operator. I just want my normal voice back!!
{via}
....I have a bachelorette party this weekend where we're going to a couple different wineries for an entire day-long adventure. My liver is already cringing in anticipation.
{via}
.....a text from Jess, that was suuuuuper sweet, made me tear up this week

.....MG and I are really torn as to whether or not we should go to Aruba next month for our friends' wedding. Zika is scaring us...I dont want to put my life on hold for something (again!), and we desperately need a get-away. But is it worth the risk? #wheresmycrystalball

....I saw my second cousin for the first time since we were 10 and 13 at my dad's funeral last weekend. It was a total surprise and I didnt even know she was in the area (she used to live in Texas). We've now reconnected and I'm excited about it!

.....I drove about 10 minutes yesterday, extra cautious of my speed because of the big van with police lights on the top of it behind me. Only to later realize that it was animal control. Doh. #bettersafethansorry

.....MG and I had a guy come by to do a quote on replacing our 28 year old windows, just to have an idea of what it would cost. We have 17 windows in the house, and most of them are almost floor to ceiling. Having an end unit townhouse is awesome....until you have to replace the windows. Luckily he gave us a mega discount (and he actually stayed for dinner--really cool guy), but they're still gonna cost a freaking fortune--and we're starting with just the main floor of windows because it's like $7,000. Our kids may not go to college but at least we'll have new windows for them to daydream about the world from? lol #jk #kinda

....Teen Mom 2 After Show taught me something new: if you have diarrhea on birth control, it makes the BC pill less effective. I had NO idea (and clearly, neither did any of the girls when the doctor told them that). #mindblown #themoreyouknow
{via} I don't. But this cracks me up. And it also makes me laugh that there's a someecard about diarrhea.
And on that potty note, I'll leave you. What are your confessions this week?

  1. How great that you've reconnected with your cousin and that she lives close. Yeah, replacing the windows stinks, but it will help your power bill. we had to do it a few years ago.

  2. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry at this post. Cousins reunited, happy texts from fellow bloggers, replacing Windows (done that), actually we are on our last replacement. We did it in phases. Don't ask me why, we just did and it's taken us a few years. I think when we redid a room, we replaced the window. I don't even want to know if it cost more in the long run. So I feel your pain!

  3. I hope your voice feels better soon and that you have fun at the bachelorette party this weekend! And I'm always super cautious when there are police cars around too!!

  4. Oh man, what a week for you. But seriously I almost fell out of my chair at the last one. Good luck with the windows too!

  5. Haha, cracking up at the animal control story! We need windows all across our almost-22-year-old house, too, and I just hate even thinking about it! It's freezing in some rooms in the winter and so hot in the summer, and as much as I know we need them, I just hate thinking about that giant price tag! *Cringe!*

  6. I saw that wedding too and I agree, way to hectic to actually have been enjoyed by them. At least in my opinion! And yes to the customer service thing girl. Preach on! Your weekend sounds like it will be fun! Just be sure to drink lots of water too!! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  7. You're going to have so much fun winery hopping for the bachelorette, and lol at that ecard! Bad customer service seriously is the worst, and has gotten me to avoid certain stores and cruiselines (looking at you Carnival). It's just unacceptable, and they end up losing customers over it and beyond that due to word of mouth. Sending *hugs* that you guys make the right decision concerning your friend's wedding, my doc said as long as you're not pregnant it's not anything to be overly concerned about. I would just talk to your doc, and see what they think <3

  9. I also was not a fan of that wedding. It was POINTLESS. And the whole getting married at 9am thing was weird.

  10. girl customer service is so huge! I just got a s'well bottle, and within a week it was sweating. was super bummed and asked a couple of my friends if theirs did that, since i know they aren't supposed to & so i contacted the company. within literally a few hours, i got an apology email stating the seal must be defective, they sent me out a new one and told me to keep the old one! i mean, if that isn't the best customer service ever, i don't know what it!

  11. Spending money on house updates like that is so lame... we're about to have to spend a couple thousand to have trees trimmed away from our house which I guess is necessary, but I keep thinking of all the fun things I could do with that money instead, lol!

  12. Oh man that Zika virus is spoiling so many trips! We are not traveling this year because of it (21 weeks pregnant here)... Hope it goes away soon!!! Xo

  13. That Today Show wedding is so bizarre! At least the bride looked pretty! Reminded me of the Bachelor Finale where they kept trying to make Bachelor Ben and Lauren B get married on the spot #awkward!! Loved this post this morning!

  14. Gotta love house updates and all that money, right? The BC fact is cracking me up, who knew!

  15. I hope you have so much fun at the bachelorette party this weekend! And all of your windows sound amazing-- even if they end up being a fortune to replace, at least it's not something that has to be done often? haha

  16. I can't handle bad customer service, it frustrates me to no end!

  17. I went on a winery tour a few months ago for a friend's birthday...SO MUCH FUN, and bachelorette makes it even better! I can't stand bad customer service...these companies usually have enough money to make it right, or pay someone to have some compassion..>GEEEZ!

  18. Windows are insanely $$$, why?!?! If you are trying to get pregnant or think there is a chance you would get pregnant within a couple months of travel, I wouldn't go to Aruba. Maybe instead go to Cabo? They still have beaches and do not have any signs of the Zika like the Caribbean nations do right now. And if you do choose to go to Aruba - Get a product with DEET!!! And roll around and lather yourself as well as your husband. :)

  19. I'm sorry, say WHAAAAT about birth control?! OMG! They should put that in the pamphlet that comes with it! I can't say that that's ever even crossed my mind...

  20. So I'm not sure where the whole Zika thing is at right now, but it seems to be dying down... People aren't freaking out in Florida anymore and the pregnant ladies in South FL aren't fleeing the state like they planned to when it became a problem. I'd talk to a dr and see what they say! I had NO clue about BC effectiveness if you have diarrhea - point noted lol We're about to drop a butt load of money on new landscaping (if my hubby doesn't freak out first lol)

  21. I had no idea about that dinareena situation. Dude.

Windows and doors. WHY SO EXPENSIVE.

I'd go to Aruba. I'd actually go most places and take the precautions with the super bug spray and the meds if necessary. A lot of stuff could have happened to us in Africa. None of it did. You could get Zika. You could also get hit by a car in front of your house. Take the super DEET and have fun in Aruba.

  22. Haha, I am dying over the diarrhea joke. I didn't know that about BC either. I guess watching the aftershow would have been helpful. I watch Teen Mom 2 occasionally. A guilty pleasure, haha. I would say if you are actively trying for a child or plan to within the next two months, I would hold off on the trip.

  23. Why do home updates have to be SO expensive!? Our house was built in the 50s and could use new windows! We also likely will need to replace the roof in the next year or two. Being an adult is no fun at times!

  24. Girl, at work right now I'm dealing with HORRIBLE customer service from a company and I cannot understand it. Do you not WANT to keep your customers?!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Windows are SO pricey. As is just about every house update/repair that we need to have done haha. Joys of homeownership ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh yikes. I hate spending money on stuff like that. It's like having to spend money on car repairs. Why can't that stuff just be free!? lol

My roommate went to El Salvador over Spring Break and I told her to watch out for Zika. Thankfully she was able to keep herself doused in bug spray and didn't get bitten by a mosquito. But we were still kinda worried over it. I think as long as you bring bug spray and are aware of where you are, you should be fine! :)

  27. Oh no hope you get your voice back! Sucks about the Zika virus. I would research how bad or not it is in Aruba because not all islands have been affected.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Umm yes, I was so disappointed when I watched the Today wedding. You're right about the bride's first look at herself--they whisked her away before she got to see herself! I mean, I know they paid for the whole thing, but I don't think it's worth having a crazy wedding like that.

  29. Adulting pretty much sucks, why is everything SO expensive?! I'm dying over that diarrhea ecard Lol

  30. I totally missed the Today wedding- but doesn't sound like I missed much! How weird! Spending money on windows doesn't sound fun! We're about to spend a bunch on rotted door frames that leaked water in our basement...just to sell our house. ugh. I could think of about 1,289,199 things I'd rather spend money on!

  31. Bad customer service makes me ragey - I read your post about Loft yesterday, and was angry for you! Ugh! I'm glad my text brought you a bit of good feels:) I've been thinking of you lately, sweet friend. And goodness - between you guys and the windows and Lynn and the new roofs, I feel sick to my stomach for both of you for those expenses!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Omg I had no idea about that with birth control...how strange! I saw bits and pieces of the Today Show Wedding and was feeling the same thing as you. I hate terrible customer service, if they did something wrong they should give you something. Ugh house things cost so much, it terrifies me when we get a house because things are just so expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  33. OMG, the windows. I feel you on home improvement projects. I feel you on your concerns about the Zika virus! I also agree about the bad customer service! xo, Champagne&Suburbs

  34. Aruba is SUCH a tough call. We were hoping to go to the Dominican Republic this summer because I want The Pilot to meet my family there but now I don't know. Maybe you can call the State Department and try and get some information about where the virus has hit specifically and see if you can get a prescription- or military-grade bug spray? That's what I had when I went to Africa. It was pretty gross and made my skin peel but I literally had mosquitoes hovering 1/4 inch from my arm because they couldn't get through this crazy barrier!

    ReplyDelete
  35. what? what? diarrhea makes BC less effective. I call BS. if that's the case I should've been pregnant 20xs over. windows are pricey but they'll save you $$ (hopefully) in the long run with efficiency and resale.

  36. That wedding sounds awesome to me. We got married at the courthouse alone on a Tuesday because I hate weddings so much. We didn't even do vows, just signed the paper.

How can diarrhea make you ovulate?! How?!
