Weekending in Numbers

Happy Monday and a belated Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!
MG and I are back from a long wedding/Mom's weekend out of town and I figured it would be fun to recap it in numbers, so here goes...

12: the number of hours spent in the car between Thursday evening and Sunday evening

700+: the number of miles driven this weekend. VA to PA, PA to NY, NY to PA, and PA to VA.

13+: the number of road trip snaps that were taken

1: gorgeous blow out that made it possible to have pretty hair despite some drizzly weather for the wedding
55: the number of minutes that we stood during our friend's wedding because the priest forgot to tell people to sit down (no joke)

12+: the number of pictures taken outside during the cocktail hour because the weather had finally stopped being super crummy

10: the number of people at our table at our friend's wedding reception

1: the number of tissues I needed during the father-daughter dance. I totally didn't think about it before the wedding, so it really caught me off guard with the memories that it brought back for me

4ish: the number of glasses of wine and/or champagne that were drank during the cocktail hour and wedding

1: friend's heel that accidentally stabbed my middle toe while dancing, creating a gash and a pretty decent bruise which I'm still sporting today (and probably will be for a few weeks)

2: the time in the morning that MG and I made it to bed after the wedding and the after-party
(4: the number of tired eyes in that photo haha)

20+: the number of face swaps that occurred between everyone at our table during the wedding reception--most people hadn't ever seen it before so it was a huge hit (and absolute hilarity--if you were following on Snapchat, you saw some of it!)

15: the number of stores visited over the weekend (between the outlets by the wedding, and then the shopping by my in-law's house)

3: the number of pairs of shoes purchased between MG and I (he had one pair, I had two)
(the boat shoes are even cuter on than they are in this photo and the running shoes are SO comfy!)

11: the number of Super Heroes (I think) in the Captain America: Civil War movie that we saw in 3-D with my in-laws on Saturday night. It was good, and really entertaining!
{via}
2: the number of awesome moms I have, and got to say Happy Mother's Day to on Sunday morning (we celebrated with my mom last weekend and with my MIL this weekend)

7+: the number of nose licks that I got from Cooper on Sunday morning
14: the number of people at brunch for Mother's Day-6 kids and 8 adults (one not pictured)
(the "rejects" picture we take every time my SIL's and MG take family photos with their parents)

1: the number of bloody mary's that I drank at brunch

007: my Mother-in-law's drink of choice at brunch
4: the number of words my one sister-in-law said to me when she gave a Mother's Day gift to me and my other SIL (Vera Bradley beach towels in our favorite colors for when we all go to the shore). When I said "but I'm not a mom" she said "But you will be." Love her.

180: the number of minutes spent listening to Podcasts in the car this weekend (How Stuff Works is a great series if you're looking for new ones)

6: the number of baby announcements over the weekend

3: the number of sweet friends who reached out to let me know they were thinking about me on Mother's Day

Luckily we had some gorgeous weather for Mother's Day--it was the first day that didn't have clouds or rain in at least 10 days, so I'm glad it was special for a special day!
The weekend was a LOT of fun despite all of the hours spent in the car. Our friend's wedding was gorgeous even with some less than stellar weather in the morning, and it was a lot of fun spending it with a big group of friends, despite not being in Aruba. And all of the family time was awesome, too, as always.

As much as I'd love to take a big long nap today to recover from all the fun, I'm back at work for another short week since I have a work conference on Friday in Baltimore.
Hoping your weekend was filled with love and fun, too!

  4. Your blow out looks great! I've never had one done, but I definitely want to schedule one for when we have a big event! And the minister totally forgot to tell people to sit down at my sister's wedding too! Her entire ceremony lasted maybe 35-40 minutes so they didn't stand that long, but still so funny! Have a great week!

  26. I love that your SIL got you a Mother's Day gift, along with being a future mommy..you're also a fur-mama to Cooper so you totally qualify! I always tear up during the sentimental stuff at weddings, even when I hardly know the couple! My fiance's best friend did a father/daughter dance where her grandfather and uncles also participated in and it was the sweetest thing ever I teared up the entire time! Ouch on the foot gash, those are the absolute worst...hope it heals up! Also I hope your Monday goes by quickly!

  27. It sounds like you had an amazing and filled weekend with lots of family and friend time! So the same thing happened at my friend's wedding where the priest forgot to tell everybody to sit down! Thankfully it wasn't a full mass, otherwise I think that everybody would have been very grump! Your sister in law is seriously the sweetest! I love that she told you that you will be a mom someday!

  48. Busy weekend! You all are party animals! ;) Haha weddings are where we always end up drinking the most and staying out too late - it's too hard to say goodnight when you're reunited with friends.
