Thoughts n' Stuff

One more day until the weekend!!!!

I've had some random thoughts floating around in my head and thought I'd dump 'em down here!

~MG and I slept with the windows open on Tuesday night because it got down into the 70s and 60's overnight. It was perfect until the cacophony of birds decided to sound off at 4:30am #shuttheeffuptweety

~This week at work has involved a bunch of crap. One of which included meeting with our school system's legal team for over an hour because of one set of parents who are unhappy that the school system won't pay for an "expert" $2500/day (plus travel expenses) to train staff who are already working well with their child. Did you get the memo that we are in a budget crisis? And also that the public school system isn't a smorgasbord of options that you just get to choose what you'd like? #thisaintabuffet

~In addition to that, I spent half an hour on the phone with my boss about another parent situation that we will be meeting on soon (even though there is no real issue there), AND in the same day, had a different parent meeting where a mom was unhappy that I said that her kid's language skills were average or above average because she wanted the school system to pay for her kid's speech therapy. Um, no. Why are all of the crazies coming out of the woodwork this close to the end of the school year? #hideme

~Less than a month until our Greece/Turkey trip!!!! And of course there was another bombing in Istanbul this week. So, MG and I changed our flight and cut our time in Istanbul to just the one day we get off of the cruise ship instead of two full days. We're bummed since we'll already be there and the city has SO much to explore, but we'd rather play it safe than dead. Beginning to think we have a travel curse #firstmosquitosnowbombings

~MG and I got a huge watermelon at Costco last week for $5 and I immediately dove into it. And now we started making watermelon infused water. It's freaking delicious and SO refreshing! #yummmmmmm

~Bachelorette took over a LOT of my viewing time this week, but it was worth it because of all of the drama. As much as I dislike Chad and think he's pretty much a huge A-hole maniac, I think Evan is super annoying. No on deserves to be bullied, but then he just kind of kept creeping up on JoJo any time she was with Chad. Not to mention #nosebleeds

~On the Bachelorette note, I read some very off-putting things about Jordan online. Like womanizer type of off-putting. I'm bummed because he seems geniuine. And what's the deal with Luke and his inability to smile? Intense and sultry is awesome, but if you can't smile...ever...it feels creepy.  #hotbodthough

Any random thoughts floating around in your brain this week?

  1. You crack me up! I was totally worried about you when I saw the news about the bombings and am glad you decided to cut your time there short. Also? I need to know how to do this watermelon-infused water!! And yes to "The Bachelorette." Chad is a huuuuuge jerk and I swear some of it is acting on the producers' part.

  2. You just can't get a break with your trip! I am sorry that you had to cut your day short, but yeah it's probably the best thing to do.

  3. I drink fruit-infused water all the time. Never thought of watermelon. Recipe? On the blog? Soon? I would love to see how you do it. Thanks for linking today!! And my thoughts on the school issues at the end of the year - answer in my opinion, because they think they can!! Dealing with parents at times is the least favorite in being a teacher for me.

  4. That tweety thought though -- HILARIOUS. That's what happens here too and it's so annoying! Sorry to hear about the Istanbul part of your trip. Why can't people in the world get it together and stop being insane?!

  5. Lol so funny. Evan was driving me crazy. He's so childish in the way he runs and tattles to Chris, but keeps provoking Chad. I think Chad could be a little much at times, but I think the guys were picking on him at times. I was surprised at how much time people were wasting on their one on ones with JoJo, by talking about Chad. There's always a "Chad" every season. Someone's gotta be the focal point. Yes, better safe than dead! I swear everyday I'm getting new alerts about terrorist attacks somewhere. Put an end to the violence already.

  6. We had the same thoughts about visiting Germany this summer. Some very scary things are happening in major cities and it's always better to play it safe than sorry! Happy Friday eve!

  7. Girl I totally agree about the bachelorette. Evan is so creepy. Hubs and I were dyyyyying when they were playing football and Evan goes "I killed it!"... Too bad you are so awkward and unathletic and didn't kill anything

  8. yes to all the bachelorette stuff! erectile guy is so creepy on so many levels. can we remove him already? and yeah jordan is no bueno. his ex (who he cheated on to get on show) is blasting him on social. it's a mess. she's also olivia munn's trainer (jordans brothers gf) ANYWAY. drama. normal stuff. and i don't think you're travel cursed! bummer to reduce the time there but you'll still have a good time :)

  9. OMG, Evan is suuuuper creepy! Chad does seem a little jerkish but he's entertaining, haha
I read a bunch of stuff about Jordan on Reality Steve and agree.......disappointed.

  10. I love sleeping with the window open, but I hate those damn birds! Love your thoughts on the Bachelorette. Evan should not have accused Chad of using steroids. That's a serious accusation and it's not something to joke about. I feel Chad is misunderstood. So not sure about Jordan. I'd like to see her pick a normal with no ties to famous people.

  11. I love sleeping with the windows open but I so rarely get to do it down here. Although the birds waking you up is annoying! And that's crazy about the bombings in Istanbul! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  12. Oh Tweety. But yay for the windows. And for the love of travel! Just enjoy yourself and I will pray for safe travels. I am still in awe that you have not gone postal on some parents at this point in the year. Kudos to you and so close to being done!!! Hang in there!

  13. I love your commentary on The Bachelorette! It is so ridiculous this season that my husband is even entertained by it. Good luck getting through the end of the school year without more parents causing a ruckus!

  14. The birds here are insane too! Haha we have a few woodpeckers that have taken up residence in our neighbors tree.

  15. I love watermelon infused water! I recently discovered pineapple and basil infused water. So good!

  17. We're leaving for Greece next week and every week there seems to be SOME sort of drama in Europe so I'm a little concerned. Good decision to reduce your time in Turkey. One day (fingers crossed) things will settle down a bit and you'll get to explore more! Make today work, Rachel -CubicleCouture

  18. Watermelon is excellent this year.

I adore sleeping with the windows open! I can usually sleep through our backyard birds. Light wakes me before sound.

  19. Ooooh watermelon infused water... what an amazing idea! Sorry about everything surrounding your trip, but know that you guys will have an amazing time. Greece will be absolutely incredible! And ugh... Evan is super creepy! As much as I couldn't stand Chad, Evan went overboard trying to sideline him. Time for creepy erectile dysfunction dude to hit the road Jack!

  20. We have our windows down right now too and are loving it - I still can't believe how cool it is but it's amazing! I'm with you - I'd so play it safer on the trip and I think the way you guys switched it is great - can't believe it's almost here!

  21. I loooove sleeping with the windows open...until morning comes! HAHA!

  22. I still haven't finished watching the Bachelorette this week. I have about 45 minutes left of the second one. 4 hours is a lot of time. I need to make some watermelon water too. Sounds heavenly. I am so sorry that you had to cut down your time in Turkey, but I agree, better safe than dead. I can't wait to hear about Greece though. I am dying to go there.

  23. So sorry about all the vacation drama. I am glad you are playing it safe! Ugh parents. When I taught school they were the worst part of the job!

    ReplyDelete
  24. ugh! I have to wait for my stupid husband to get back in town from a work trip so we can watch the bachelorette and it's killing me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. All that parent drama just gives me anxiety thinking about it! Ah! I don't miss that, for sure!! One thing about our house (that we just moved back to) is that birds live in the trees right outside our window and tweet so loudly every morning at 5am. I didn't miss that! And the bachelorette- I agree, why keep Evan around? And Jordan's hair drives me crazy!

  26. I'm loving all of the Chad drama on The Bacherlorette, but I don't understand how JoJo kept him on for so long! And Evan is such a creeper! As much as I hate Chad, he kind of has a point about how JoJo could like him and Evan. It just doesn't make sense at all! That sucks about your Istanbul trip too! Hopefully things will die down so you'll feel safe when you're over there!

    ReplyDelete
  27. TOTALLY agree with you about Evan! As terrible as Chad may be, he wouldn't have come across half as cray cray without Evan needling him! And, I said the exact same thing about Luke! I love his super deep, sexy side but come on, man, show those pearly whites!

  28. You think you have a travel curse?! Caleb has literally gotten sick (and I mean, SO sick) on each vacation we've ever taken together. Sun poisoning on our first family vacation, food poisoning on both out of country vacations which knocked him out for 2 full days, a pounding ear infection on our last Hilton Head trip where he couldn't do anything but sleep. I feel so bad for him. We're doing EVERYTHING we can to prep him for our next one, ha! No sketchy chicken at dinner, he'll be wearing extra sunscreen 24/7 and he can't go underwater more than a few feet - haha! I hope your vacation is amazing!!!

  29. All of the same thoughts on The Bachelorette! I'm a little sad Chad is gone, even though he is 100% crazy, it made for good TV ha! And I've been obsessed with watermelon lately, too - I've been doing watermelon, pineapple, a little bit of apple juice and ice and making slushies - AMAZING.

  30. I agree with Katie above. I'll miss Chad & his crazy next week! What grade do you teach?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Evan totally creeped me out the first episode...just something about him!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes, why is Luke so sad???? I don't think I've ever seen him smile!!!! It's absurd what parents expect from the school system.. teachers to raise their kids, discipline their kids, get all the stuff for free.. it's ridiculous!!! Hope you have a good weekend!

  33. Dying over your stories... the end of the year is always hectic, right? And I'm so sad you had to cut down your time in Istanbul, but glad you did for your safety! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
