Thursday Thoughts

The week is winding down and I'm more than ready for the week to be over, and skip to the last week of school next week! The last week (and next) are packed with last minute meetings before the last day of school! Needless to say, it's been hectic!

I thought I'd jot down a few of my thoughts lately since it's been a jumble!

~I was totally multi-tasking the other day at work, typing on my computer when I was on hold on the phone. When they told me to Press 1 for the option I wanted, I typed it on my keyboard instead of the phone. Whoops!

~I had my last session with my crazy parent's kid this week. I see him multiple times a week and on Tuesday I walked in and he said "Go away please" (so much progress he's made since communicating through grunts last year to being able to tell me to go away haha!)  #insertangelssinginghere

~I finally got back on the reading train last week after raiding my friend Trish's online book selection (we share our Kindle accounts with one another so we don't have to pay for books the other one already has), and it's been great! I've missed reading and now that the weather has been nice, I've been doing more of it while relaxing on our back deck. Summer perfection!

~A friend of mine just got diagnosed with breast cancer last week and it was a HUGE shock. She's my age. Young, healthy, active. My friends and I at work have rallied around her and are supporting in any way that we can, checking in on her after doctor's appointments, and have plans to have a fun girls night watching Bachelorette next Monday (at her request). It just totally hit home that nothing is guaranteed.

~I had a dream the other night that simultaneously incorporated Hamilton and John Leguizamo from BloodLines in it. TOTALLY weird and off the wall. Obviously I was watching too much Tony's and BloodLine that night! lol

~I'm making meatball subs for dinner tonight in my crockpot completely from scratch (with homemade sauce and everything), and I'm nervous that they won't be good. Anyone else get nervous when you try a new recipe, that it won't turn out well? I'll keep ya posted!

~I found 3 more things at Loft that caught my eye yesterday (after they sent out that catchy email announcing another sale). So, I took advantage of a credit for free expedited shipping that I had and got all three. We'll see how many of them work out--the last time only 2 things did.
Dress: $29.70;               Embroidered Tank: $32.70;           Shell Tank: $8.50

~I've gotten several compliments in the last two weeks about my tan. But my tan is ALLLLLLL fake. Thanks Rodan+Fields Sunless Tanner. You rock my pale world! :)

~I started taking things down off my wall in my office to get ready to start packing things up for Summer, and it feels so lonely in here with just those things gone. It's amazing what a few posters can do to liven up a space!

~MG had gotten a Costco sized bag of Doritos (aka a bag that could easily fit a large toddler in it) for his friend's bachelor party the other weekend but brought it back unopened. Well, I couldn't control myself any longer and busted that sucker open on Sunday when I had salty bad-for-me food cravings, and it's been down hill ever since. It's like Chad and his meat...except not even that close.

And on that note, I leave you! Hoping your week's going smoothly!

  2. I have totally done the typing thing! Although I've been talking to someone and trying to type at the same time and then when they left and I looked at what I was typing I realized I was typing our conversation, not what I was meaning to type lol! Love ALL your Loft finds! That embroidered tank is so cute! Hope they all work out! YESSSS to Doritos! That sounds like heaven. <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  4. That dress is so cute. How did they not eat the doritos? and why did he bring it back? It was cruel and taunting for you! lol. And I have done the typing thing on my computer as well. Glad it was last time with the crazy! Wahoo almost summer!

  10. Chad and his meat, hahahahahahahaha! LOVE it! Especially because it kind of sounds like a double entendre - dirty mind, sorry. Ha! PS: We should text during Bachelorette! We can have "girls night" via iPHones:) I think I'm the only one I know watching it right now, so if you're watching, let's converse! Loving your Loft finds - that dress is too cute! And isn't R&F tanner the BEST. THING. EVER? Love that stuff. I even put it on my face (just a thin layer) and I look so much more summery and sun kissed. Obsessed. I've heard it usually always sells out every year, so I'm wondering if I need to stock up on a couple more bottles???

  13. I am the same way about recipes - especially crock pot ones where they take hours to cook and I smell the deliciousness all day ;) That multi-tasking one made me laugh, for sure. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  16. Wellllll, now I want Doritos haha! Those chips are addicting. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, that is NEVER easy news to receive/hear about someone but I'm sure she is amazed at the amount of support you're all giving her! :)

  17. That is why I can't have Doritos at home. I love them way too much. I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she only has a low stage and can recover from this. Heartbreaking to see young women go through this. I hope the rest of your school year go smoothly and more importantly fast.

  19. Haha I suck at multitasking while on the computer too! If I'm talking, I often end up typing what I'm saying. And I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she's able to get past it successfully

  20. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It just doesn't make sense how many young people are getting cancer these days. I'm sure that she appreciates having you there to lean on. I hope everything goes well for her.

  22. So many things!!! First I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, glad to hear though she has such a great support system. Mark buys like toddler sized bags of chips from Costco as well and so hard not to eat 20 servings in one sitting. I love all your loft picks especially that dress!

  23. I really chuckled watching Chad eat during the ceremony a few weeks back. Did you see Jimmy Fallon's "Kids Bachelorette"?? Funny stuff.
I like to make meatballs in the crockpot and freeze them.

  24. Does R & F sunless tanner smell terrible? I found one that doesn't smell at all but it takes a few applications to show much color.

  25. wait. John Leguzamo is on Bloodlines? the netflix show? yay for reading again! i started the Royal We (from your kindle). i've literally only read one book all year. seriously slacking. Sorry re: your friend with breast cancer. how scary! she'll beat it though!

  26. I've heard younger and younger diagnoses on breast cancer. It's frightening.

  27. Homemade meatball subs sound delicious! New recipes can be nerve racking but usually turn out great! That Chad meme cracks me up, he's too much!

  28. I get nervous about trying new recipes because a few of mine have been flops. But that sounds oh so good.. I'm craving meatballs for sure now!

  29. Oh man I laughed at your experience with that kid. My brother in law has really low functioning autism and says like 4 things, and one of them is "go away." So pleasant. He never says it to me but he says it to my husband all the time. Sometimes we are already in a room and he will walk in then say go away. We're just like "We were here first. You go away."

I'm so sorry about your friend. :( :(
