I'm linking up with Miz B @ Should Be Reading for Teaser Tuesday:
I just recently finished a book that the boyfriend recommended to me, and it is one of the best books that I have ever read. It's called Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, by Laura Hillenbrand, and is a story about Louis Zamperini, an Olympian and a WWII survivor.

But not just any survivor....
Not into books about war? Neither am I. But, I promise you, this is worth the read. Some of the words that I think describe this book: awe-inspiring, magical, mind-boggling, incredible, heart-wrenching, wonderful. I could go on and on.
I don't want to write down an entire synopsis because the book will speak for itself.
But, one of my favorite quotes from the book was:
"His conviction that everything happened for a reason, and would come to good, gave him a laughing equanimity even in hard times.”
This is an absolute must-read, even if this isn't in the realm of what you would normally choose. It is, without a doubt, 100% worth it. Go get a copy and start reading! :)
hmmm...i don't think i could read this though. are there any vampires in it!?
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about this one. We almost read it for book club, but we've done a lot of history type books. I will have to bring this one up in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteLately I've been reading books that I normally wouldn't read, and I've been enjoying them. So I'd probably like this one too. It's fun to step outside the norm. Love your teaser.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from Hot Issues, Cool Choices.
Sounds like an interesting read.

I need to put this on my list! I have been looking for a "must read" that isn't one of the lame-main-stream-smut-badly-written-nonsense. Haha. Have you read "The Traveler's Gift"? I'm reading it now, and I am quite enjoying it. Pretty quick read, but very thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteThis is one the best books I have ever read! Amazing story!
