Wedding Wednesday: Reception (Part 2)

There were so many pictures from the reception that I had to break them into two posts, so without further ado, here's part 2:

In between the salads and dinner being served, our Maid of Honor and Best Man did their toasts. Both speeches were funny (the Maid of Honor's was obviously more heartfelt) and held some slightly embarrassing stories/anecdotes. You can tell by the look on our faces in each:
 Maid of Honor speech:
Best Man speech:

After the speeches and dinner, we had our parent dances. This was one of the most special moments for me, as my dad's health has been an issue for the past 2 years and I desperately wanted this father-daughter dance to be able to happen. I'm so glad that I got it. We danced to Unforgettable by Nat and Natalie Cole
And then MG and his mom had their dance to Over the Rainbow
Following the dances, we had did the cake-cutting. My cake-topper was purchased for me by my bridesmaid bestie Trish and I loved it (and that every time I see pictures of our cake, I think of her, too):
We incorporated my grandparents' cake cutter that they used at their 50th wedding anniversary, and used it to cut our wedding cake.

Smashing cake in face was never something that either of us even wanted to do (personally, I think it's not nice).
And in the end our cake cutting pictures turned out great, and no one was pouting or upset: win-win!
And then there was dancing...lots and lots of dancing!
the two boys were the stars of the show, for sure :)

We had so many great family members and friends there to celebrate with us--it was such a blast!
We are so so so blessed :)

  1. Looks like SO much fun!!! I love that you used your grandparent's cake cutter! My mom mentioned she might still have my dad and her's from their wedding and I'm totally planning to use it, if that's the case!

Also, love the sweet moment with your dad. Definitely something every little girl dreams about and I'm glad you got to have your moment with him!

  2. What a lovely looking wedding! My fiance and I have talked about the whole smashing cake issue and the agreement we came upon was that he can pick the topper as long as there is no super messy smashing. But I agree with where you are coming from - it's really not nice!
