Blogtober: Day 2-Dream Job

Day 2 of Blogtober is about what your dream job was in the past, and what it is now.

My dream job when I was growing up was to be a dolphin trainer...even though I didn't know how to swim (details, details...). That would still be the coolest job to this day. I remember in college my mom picked up a book for me somewhere called The Dolphin Chronicles, and it was about a speech therapist (what I was in school for at the time) who ended up working with dolphins in research studies. I felt like it was a "sign" that that's what I should be doing.

And now I work at a school where the mascot is the dolphins, so I work with a bunch of "little dolphins" every day. Not quite the same, but hey.... :)

If I had my dream job now, I think it would be working with kids or adults who just got cochlear implants and are hearing for the first time. Working with them on the speech aspects would be cool, and witnessing them hearing for the first time would be absolutely incredible. I always see those videos online and they give me goosebumps.

What would your dream job be?

  2. When I was little I was SO SURE that I was going to be a zoologist and get to work with animals every day. haha! My mind changed probably a million times after that. So indecisive! I watched that video of that sweet little baby...omg, how amazing is that?!

  12. It's simply amazing how many people seem to have wanted to work with dolphins. I think this trend totally passed me by...but i can see why - i mean they are really smart and look cute.
But your grown up dream is even better. Fingers crossed for you.

  13. Isn't it crazy how things work out?! I hope one day you get to work with people that are just getting their cochlear implants, it would be so rewarding. Before my current job I worked for a hearing aid office for 3 years and we had a couple little kids that had hearing aids and it was such a pleasure to help them. I always told our audiologist that I hoped one day they would be able to hear without hearing aids because life would be so much more enjoyable for them!
