I Never Thought I'd Say It...

There are times that I say something and I can see my 15 year old self shaking her head in shame, thinking "this is what happens when I'm an adult?"

Do you ever catch yourself saying something and you're like "There's a sentence I never thought I'd say"?
Lately, with all of our home improvement projects I've had several of those moments.
For instance:

"the grout looked so good in the morning"--since when was grout something to get excited about?

"I love that sink faucet!"-and then when I couldn't find that one on the shelf, I drove to another store that had it in stock.

"I can't wait for the new cabinet in the bathroom to be installed!"--These are the things that I get excited about now.

'That granite looks so pretty. It's going to look great in the bathroom"-Yes, I'm talking about granite. And a bathroom. Who am I???

"I can't wait for our deck chairs to get here" (this was before our zero gravity chairs arrived)--these are the packages I eagerly await arriving (that and my Loft shipments haha)

"What lighting fixtures should we pick out?  I want them to go with everything else"-instead of coordinating an outfit, or a get together with friends, coordinating my light fixtures is on the priority list now.

I'm sure there are plenty more, these are just the ones that come to mind lately.
What are some of the things that you never thought you'd say?

  1. Hahaha I'm with you on that!! Since we're selling the house I find myself saying lots of weird things similar to that... like "lets paint the shutters so they pop when people drive by and it catches their attention" or when looking at houses I say things like "there's no extra room in this house for kids to play" and "this room will definitely need a ceiling fan because it gets hot at night here"
Adult life is so funny sometimes :)

  9. Ha, this is too good! I’m always laughing about getting excited about home fixings now – it’s so funny how our priorities change! I can’t believe how excited I was picking out our backsplash in the kitchen and how eager I am to have our storm door put in!

  10. Story of my life. My weekends are spent doing projects around the house, and I'm totally happy about that! But yes, it does make you feel old doesn't it?!

  13. When I was still working, I was often glad to be in bed before 11:00. Never thought I would be saying that.

  15. I'm totally like that now. I've told my friends and husband that it's been a while since i got super excited about clothes. My life has been circling around finding decor and light fixtures, and wall colors, and ideas for the house. But it's amazing. i totally get your grout excitement, btw. I can't wait to start painting the bathroom and maybe even the cabinets! yikes! So many things on my home diy list!
