Weekend Recap

Two posts for one day? Can you handle it??

This weekend was a fun one, but not too crazy. Just the way I like it!

Friday night I stayed in--MG was still out of town and I took advantage of having a night of ME-time. I watched the documentary Queen of Versailles--did anyone see this? Anyone else as stunned as I was at it?

Saturday I had a massage scheduled at Massage Envy. I've got some CRAZY knots in my shoulders/back and the moment I shook my massage therapists hand, I knew she was going to break me. In a good way. She asked me at one point how the pressure was and I told her it was good, but that I might cry at some point. She responded with, "I have tissues." No. Joke.
Let's just say, she got in there, and I may have "eek"ed a few times (no tears!), but I feel like she broke some of it up. Thank goodness!

When I got home, MG was back from his work trip, and we had to fix a clog in the kitchen sink (EVERYTHING breaks when he is gone...I swear!), so we went to get stuff for that, did some errands and got lunch together, which ended up being more like lunch/dinner since we got home at 4. Whoops! Props to us for getting Cafe Rio in honor of Cinco De Mayo weekend....maybe it was a coincidence, but maybe I'm ok with it. :)
Me and the bday girl
Saturday night a friend of ours was having her 30th birthday party at a bowling alley. It might sound a little lame, but it was actually a lot of fun. Plus, the bday girl is preggers, so going out to a bar wouldn't really have been too fun for her.
We had such a good time with the group who came. My bowling skills stunk, but at least I had fun! :)

Love these girls!
Our group may have been having so much fun that we stayed for Cosmic Bowling. We also may have been the only people in the place.
It was one of those nights where you left and said, "That was a really awesome night." Love that.

Sunday was laziness and supposed to be book club, but I had a bad sinus headache and didn't wanna be the lame party pooper in the group, so I stayed home and rested. Stupid allergies. All in all, my actual cinco de mayo was pretty lame haha.

That was my little ol' weekend. Hope yours was fun, too!

Blog Every Day in May {Day 5}

Another post this weekend?
Yeppers! And today is a super fun one!

Day 5, Sunday: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them?

My first ever blog-to-real-life friend is P!nky.

We met through the blog world, and actually met IRL at a blogger meet up. We met ahead of time for a little blate action, and I instantly loved this girl. She's SO fun, upbeat, peppy, super cute and just an all around nice person.
The night of our blate! SO cute!
We found out, before meeting in person, that we lived basically right down the street from one another (small world, right??) Without the blogging world, I wouldn't have had this awesome chica come into my life (remember yesterday's quote? "Everything happens for a reason"????), and that would be a major bummer.

We talk almost every day on g-chat, we go out to happy hours together, we've celebrated birthdays together, made dinner (and mug-cakes) together, I've met her family (and I heart them) and I just love her. She's a great sounding-board for me when I'm worrying about or over-thinking something, she's gives me good advice when I'm having a hard time with friends or things like that, and when we get together, we laugh!

We met about a year and a half ago, but I feel like I've known her for a lot longer than that. I guess that's when you know you've found a good friend :)
I love the blog world for a lot of reasons, and P!nky is definitely at the top of that list!
I love you, girl!

Blog Every Day in May {Day 4}

I'm posting on a Saturday, and I typically don't post on weekends, but I'm trying to stick to this blogging every day in May thing, so here goes.

Today's topic is an easy one for me:
Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

My favorite quote is one that I absolutely truly believe in....

"Everything happens for a reason"

It sounds SO cliche, but in my life, I've realized that nothing else is truer. The people who come in (and out) of your life, are there for a reason. The jobs you have and the heart breaks we face, all happen for a reason. You might not understand it right away, and it might not be what you want, but it's all because you're going on your path to where you're supposed to be. When you make the same choices over and over again, and you get the same result...you ask yourself, "why does this keep happening to me?" And I can tell you, the answer is: "because you haven't learned the lesson yet"...whatever that lesson is.
{via}
Life is about learning and growing, and I think everything happens to help us on our paths to becoming the people we are meant to be. It's up to us to make that happen and get there.
~.~.~.~.~

Another favorite quote is:
This is something I continually work on. Stop worrying. Embrace what is in the now. And enjoy it!

Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable

Are ya ready?

~awkward silences~

~not having chapstick at hand--I'm addicted~

~people that feel they have to say something/make a comment to you anytime they see you in a hallway (you know, other than hi, how are you, smiling, etc), even if they've just seen you 5 minutes ago. Basically, socially awkward adults!~

~when my pants fit a little tighter than I remember them fitting....~

~when people check in on me, like at work. I'm an adult, and a professional, and I get my stuff done. Worry about something else that's actually worth worrying about (or focus on the people who actually need to be checked up on)~

~getting emails/texts/messages that say "we need to talk" or "can we talk?" I automatically assume I did something wrong or am in trouble. (99.9% of the time, it's never the case)~

~not remembering someone's name, and then having to try and figure out a creative way to find it out~

~seeing people with camel toe....or other body parts hanging out of their clothes Ouch!~

~people who pan handle for money on the Metro/subway....you feel trapped!~

~swimming. I know HOW to swim, but I've never been good at it, and never for more than like, 30 seconds. (I really wish the water didn't freak me out so much...I'm a good sun-bather tho!)~

~when guys hit on you and don't take the clue that you're not interested...so they keep at it, and at it...~

~watching someone get injured. It makes me cringe and my body hurts a little when I see people get hurt~

I'm sure this list could go on and on, but I think it's a good one so far!

Blog Every Day in May

I've seen this blog idea all over the blog world, and thought it would be fun to participate. Even if it's a day late. Sue me!

So, now I'll be making up for yesterday's post, and doing today's post too. Can you handle all of that? I sure hope so!

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less

I was born in Maryland in the early 80's and today my parents still live in that same house I grew up in. I was such a perfect baby that they stopped after me (at least that's what I tell myself anyway). I was kind of a tom boy (mainly because I lived on a street with a lot of boys) when I was a kid, playing in creeks and woods, riding bikes, etc. In high school I joined the volleyball team, had my first serious boyfriend (6 years), and made my way to University of Maryland (go terps!) where I had 4 great years making friends and enjoying the college life. After college, I went to GW University in DC to get my Masters in Speech Pathology which eventually brought me to my current job in the school system working with kiddos, and living in Virginia. Over the years I learned a lot about myself through all of life's experiences in the "real world," some tough break ups, etc. One of those relationships got me my cuddly, super friendly and lovable pup, Cooper, who is the wiggly light of my life.  And the rest fell into place when I joined Match.com one day and met the guy of my dreams. We live together and I finally understand why everything else didn't work out before. I’m at a job that I enjoy, with a guy I love, my parents close by, and my special pup. Looking forward to all of the happy things to come, but enjoying the good stuff happening right now!
(263....not bad)

Day 2, Thursday: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at

You mean other than spending endless hours on Pinterest? :)  Hmmm....

I think the thing that I'm good at, and that I take pride in, is caring about other people. Sometimes this backfires on me, in that people sometimes take advantage of the fact that I'm forgiving, but overall I think it has helped me in my relationships (friends, boyfriends, etc) to be able to put myself in someone else's shoes and try to see their perspective. It's been a valuable tool in my work life as well.

Sometimes it makes me wonder if I should have been a psychologist or psychiatrist/therapist. I love listening to other people's stories and lives, and trying to provide insight or other perspectives on things.

I think that's also why I like the blog world so much--it gives an opportunity to meet, connect with, and learn about other people, and I find that pretty cool and fascinating.

How's that for a start? :)

Jump Jump!

Can we all just take a second a reminisce about something? A little throwback if you will.

A little Kris.

And a little Kross.

And maybe a little jump...jump!

R.I.P. Mac Daddy.

Loved this song. STILL love this song.

So funny that people actually used to wear their clothes backwards cuz of these guys.

(And yes, this song will probably be stuck in your head the rest of the day. You're welcome ;)

WILW and Oh How Pinteresting

It's the middle of the week, which means it's time to link up with Jamie and Michelle!

I'm loving that MG took care of me when I wasn't feeling well on Monday. I ended up having to leave work early and spent the day on the couch. MG brought me Gatorade when he came home and made me some soup to feel better. I've got a good one!

I'm loving that I cleaned off my desk at work yesterday. It makes me happy to have everything organized, and extra space. I even found a paper I'd been looking for for a couple of months! Win!

I'm loving that it's the beginning of another month--and, on my 2-month calendar at work, I finally have the last two months of school posted! 33 more days until school's out, people!

I'm loving that I'm getting a massage this weekend. My shoulders and back are all kinds of tight from stresses at work the past few weeks. Can't wait for someone to get in there and get those knots out!

I'm loving the book that I'm reading right now, The Art of Hearing Heartbeats. I'm not done with it yet, but so far, it's a pretty great story. Can't wait to see how it ends and everything ties together! Full review to come when I'm done.

I'm loving that I'm going to happy hour with one of my coworkers today after school. She's really nice but we haven't really hung out a lot, so I'm looking forward to a non-school related hang out!

And, as always, I'm loving Pinterest!
This week I've been pinning....

Lower ab moves, some I do, some I need to try!

Spinach Feta Quinoa Cakes with Lemon-Dill Yogurt Sauce

Another quinoa recipe to try? Don't mind if I do!
This is the most brilliant idea ever. If I start doing this, maybe
MG will stop shrinking my clothes by accident. Oops!
So. Stinking. Cute!
Love this outfit. WANT this outfit!
So cute! Maybe this is what Cooper is singing in
his head when he gives me this look!
Follow Me on Pinterest Check out the other stuff I've been pinning!
Have a happy hump day!
