4 Years

4 Years....

....and we're now parents to the most incredible little girl
.....and we've taken on parenthood and the ups and downs that come with it--the stresses it puts on us and the happiness it brings--and we're better for it
....and I revel every day at the dad you are, and love seeing your love and pride for our sweet girl
.....and I appreciate all of the little things you do to make my life easier, and to support me. Waking up with me for every middle of the night feeding with Ella, taking on cooking on the nights when I just don't have the time or energy to do it, doing the every day tasks that are tedious and annoying without a request...on and on, and I can't express just how much I appreciate you.
....and you impress me daily with your knowledge of the world, and how intelligent you are.

....on the opposite end of the spectrum, you make me laugh with your incredibly goofy sayings, silly songs about Ella and Cooper, and ability to look on the bright side of things.
....and I still look forward to coming home to you every night, and always look forward to your return from work trips
....and your hugs heal some of my toughest days
....and you remind me of what's important when I get stressed out, or in my head about something/someone.
....and you don't give me too much slack when another bag or box gets delivered to the house hahah

....and you're still my favorite person to travel with

....and you're still my favorite date
....and I'd choose you over and over and over again, still.

This year has been filled with lots of joy, some challenges, but so many memories. I can't wait to see what year 4 has in store for us, but I know that whatever it is, it'll be an adventure with my favorite person.

I love you!!

WHW {#80}: Coupling Q's

Happy Wednesday and another edition of What's Hap-"Pinning" Wednesday!
I thought with Valentine's Day being yesterday, it would be fun to answer this little couple questionnaire that I saw on Lynn's facebook page yesterday (thanks for the idea, girl!)

•Who's oldest? Him

•Who was interested first? I guess I'd say him, since he messaged me on Match.com first, and he was the first to suggest we get off of Match once we'd gone out on a few dates
Our first photo together
•Same high school? Nope, but we almost went to the same college. And at one point we lived in the same apartment building in Virginia!

•Most sensitive? Definitely me

•Worst temper? Neither of us really has a temper. He has more road rage than I do though.

•More social? Definitely him. My husband can make friends ANYWHERE he goes (and usually does)
•Hardest working? Depends on what we're doing. I'd probably lean more towards him, though.

•More sarcastic? Definitely me.
•Who makes the most mess? We're both pretty neat, but he's even more of a clean freak than I am.

•Wakes up first? For work--him; without an alarm--me

•Bigger Family? 100% him
Look at how little they all were!!!
•Who cooks the most? Me, but he is a great sous chef, and he mans the grill.

•Who cries more? No question....Me
•Better singer? Probably him, especially songs with a deep voice

•Spends the most? Uhhh....hanging my head in shame over here, but it's definitely me. You could also say me for "who has the most packages arrive at the house" lol

•Hogs the remote? We have two remotes in the living room, but he is notorious for changing the channel when I'm not paying attention lol

•Better driver? I'm a more cautious driver, but he drives more often and is better versed with cars (he knows stick and I don't). Funny story: MG had gotten into an accident when we first started dating and when we got married and joined insurance we had the opportunity for one of those safe driver things installed in the car to lower your insurance. Guess who got it in their car? Me. (And the one time he drove my car, he got me 3 dings on the device lol). Thanks to me, our bill got lowered and it wiped his accident off the record. You're welcome, MG lol

Our piece of crap stick shift rental car in Greece that MG enjoyed zipping through the hills with
•Smarter? I'd say it depends on the subject. Current events/history: MG is your man. English related things, I'm your gal!
•Most patient? I think we're both pretty patient. He might be slightly more patient than I am.

•Common sense? I think both of us have pretty decent common sense

•How many years together? Married for 2 years (3 in April!), and together for 5 1/2 years

Now it's your turn to link up with Jessi and I to share what's hap-"pinning" with you (or feel free to add to the Couple Questionnaire!)

Weekending: Birthday Celebrations

Happy Monday! I'm recovering from a really fun weekend of celebrating MG's birthday throughout the weekend, so of course there were lots of highlights:

~Friday morning my work Christmas Elf struck again, leaving me 11 tea bags for the theme of "11 pipers piping"
~Had hubs' birthday gift waiting for him when he got home from work (with a few more coming soon in the mail)
~Got ready for MG's birthday dinner out at Eddie V's...wore one of my new Loft tops (not maternity, but definitely wear-able during pregnancy; I love the bell sleeves on it)
~Had the most amazing meal at Eddie V's: moscow mule for MG and a mocktail for me; lobster bisque and wedge salad to start, MG got the steak and I got the shrimp, plus we got the truffled mac and cheese to split. And we ended with blackberry cobbler which was SO good.
Everything was SO good, and let's just say I was glad that I had my belly band handy that night lol

~Walked around for a bit after dinner and enjoyed the rainbow Christmas tree
~the next morning MG decided he wanted to replace the toilet in our master bathroom so I accompanied him on a trip to Lowes to pick it up...and a few hours and some curse words later, we had a new toilet installed
~While MG worked, I did a lot of baby research for things to add to our registry. I think I have a pretty good base for all of the major things--the Baby Bargains book was super helpful and I highly recommend it to moms-to-be!
~Went out for a sushi dinner that night and then came back and watched more episodes of Goliath--soooooo good!

~Sunday morning started with blueberry pancakes and was followed up by errands for the week

~Headed to one of our favorite restaurant/bars to celebrate MG's birthday with a bunch of his friends while watching the 1pm football games. Everyone showed up and several hours were spent chatting and watching games (sort of haha), and we even had an appearance of our friends' twins
MG enjoyed some baby holding...becoming a natural, that one :)
~Headed home around 5:30 to eat, shower, watch a bit more football and relax for the night

Overall, I'd say it was a successful birthday weekend for MG. The biggest highlight for me was when he told me that this is just where he'd want to be in his life on his birthday: with me, and our baby on the way. #mush :)

Hoping your weekend was fun, too!

Friday Faves!

Happy Friday, and happy Tax Day (insert groans) haha!
Hopefully the week's been kind to you! If it hasn't, at least the weekend is here to cheer you up, and if it has, the weekend is here to keep you going on the happy train!
My faves this week are:

{1} MG comes home today!!!
After almost 2 weeks of being away in Paris (lucky!) MG is getting home today and should be at the house by the time I get back from work today! I'm so happy to get to see him, hug him and just spend time with him. Not to mention the fun plans we have to celebrate our anniversary (and the weather is supposed to be nice, too!).

{2} Girl's Night Out
I mentioned it the other day, but on my actual anniversary (Tuesday) two of my friends insisted on taking me out for dinner so that I wasn't at home alone on my anniversary. We had Mexican food and stuffed ourselves on chips and salsa (so many!) and yummy food, plus all of the girl talk--it was perfect. I'm so lucky to have friends who look out for me!

{3} Favorite Quote/Thought/Prayer

{4} Favorite New Recipe
I tried out buffalo cauliflower bites this week which were delicious and now I'm eyeing these parmesan cauliflower bites next! Yum!

{5} Funnies
Me when the temps finally go above 60 degrees with sunshine
{via}
When you go out to eat Mexican food, fill up on all the chips and salsa, and then end up with 2 meals worth of leftovers because you're too full:

When I get the bright idea to do some weight lifting

When you're busy working, and you look up to see that it's way past time to leave for the day

Me, when MG walks in the door from his 2 week long work trip this afternoon (minus the wedding dress, although that would be pretty funny)

Happy Friday, friends! I hope your weekend is spectacular!!

What's Hap-"Pinning" Wednesday {#36}

Happy hump-day peeps! Since it's Wednesday, you know what time it is!
Link up with Jessi and I and share what's hap-"pinning" with you!
It's been a while since I've done a currently post, so I thought today would be a good day for one!

Currently I'm.....
Reading ...
I'm in between two books right now. One is called When God Doesn't Fix It, which was a recommendation from Owen. The other one I literally just read the first chapter of which was called A Man Called Ove.
Listening to...
still listening to the Hamilton soundtrack. It is absolutely incredible. I listen to it on my drive home from work, and on the weekends when I'm out running errands. The lyrics are so smart, and the music is catchy. Definitely check it out if you haven't already (and if you have Prime, you can stream the entire album for free!!)

Watching ...
Bravo shows! I begrudgingly watched Shahs of Sunset on Sunday mainly because nothing else was on, which is about the only time I watch the show.
Southern Charm was ok this week but was lacking in the drama department, and next week doesn't look too dramatic either. #boo
{via}
And I watched the premiere of Real Housewives of Dallas. Now, if the word of the season for Real Housewives of Potomac was "etiquette", the word for this season is "Jesus Juice". I think they said it AT LEAST 15 times within 4 minutes last night. And that was just the first 15 minutes or so. If you had to drink every time they said 'Jesus Juice' I would have been drunk in no time (probably from said Jesus Juice--oh no, now they have ME saying it!) Not sure how I feel about this season yet, but I haven't fully given up on them like I did on RHOP after the first episode.

Cooking...

I made roasted buffalo cauliflower bites on Monday for the first time! I've seen them around Pinterest for a while, and my bestie raves about them, so I figured while MG was away to try them. They were really good! I put them over a salad and added some blue cheese dressing--SO YUM!

Looking forward to ...
MG coming home on Friday, and getting to celebrate our anniversary!

Wishing...
that Zika didn't ruin our Aruba trip. But, since we made the official decision, the news that keeps coming out about it just makes it clear that we made the right decision. Still stinks though #gimmethebeach

Enjoying ...
talking about plans for what we will do with the airline voucher we got for cancelling. At the top of our list right now is a trip to Spain! I've wanted to go for a looooong time, and as long as those pesky mosquitoes don't make their way there, it's on the table! Just need to figure out a good time for it.

Loving....
my friends. And specifically this week, my friends from work who took me out to dinner on mine and MG's actual anniversary last night so that I wouldn't be alone on our anniversary. Love them!

Eating....
these delicious chocolate muffins my friend made for me with zucchini!! They may sound funny but they are freaking delicious!!! And she said they're healthy, which makes me feel less bad when I'm stuffing my face with them every morning :)
there are two missing in this photo because they're in my stomach :)

Wanting ...
our HOA to hurry the hell up and approve our windows so we can get them ordered (wait 3 weeks for them to be made) and get them installed before it's hot as balls outside. I don't understand what the hold up is.
Wearing ...
back and forth between warm weather and cold weather stuff. Luckily it's supposed to at least be in the 60s or warmer the rest of this week. I hope it means that Winter has finally decided to go home and sleep it off! Maybe I can finally put my Winter coat away for good...this time!

Thankful...
that our taxes are done, we got a pretty good refund (after thinking we might not get anything back) and it's already been deposited into our account! Whoop!

Now it's your turn to link up and share what's hap-"pinning" with you. Remember, it can be anything, it doesn't have to be Pinterest-related!
