5 on Friday

I can't believe it's already Friday....which probably has a lot to do with the fact that today's my first day back at work (and even that is 2 hours late). But, we'll get to that in a sec.

{1}- Snow Days
This Monday was Martin Luther King day (no work), and then the next 3 days we got snow days off of work (plus a 2 hour delay this morning). Don't get me wrong, I love a good snow day (and not working), but now we've lost President's Day weekend off, and our teacher workday in April, plus, if we have ANY more days off, our school year is gonna get extended. I was cool with a day or two off, but January isn't even over yet (and I've only worked about 6 days so far in January it seems like), so I have a feeling I'll be in school after June 20th. Wah. Not to mention I have SO much work and tons of meetings to catch up on...
{2}-Sick/Coughing
Last week MG came down with a cold at the start of the work week and despite our best efforts for me to not get it before my bridal shower, come Friday afternoon I had the sniffles, and by that night my nose hurt from how much I'd already been blowing my nose. Luckily I was ok-enough at the bridal shower, but that night my voice almost totally disappeared and now I'm coughing. I HATE coughing (I mean, I'm guessing everyone does), because I get the dry tickles that turn into hacking coughs. And usually I'm in the middle of a meeting or something where it's totally embarrassing when it happens. I'm hoping it settles down over the weekend. I guess the days off were nice so that I could recover some without taking actual sick days, at least.

{3}-Dress Fitting
I get to try on my wedding dress today!!!! I have my first fitting today with my mom and my friend/bridesmaid Crystal and I'm SO excited! There will definitely be pictures taken (but, don't be mad, I probably won't post them on here until the after the actual wedding day), and I can not wait!!

{4}-Bridal Shower/Thank You's
these are the thank you's I'm
using.
I posted on Wednesday about my bridal shower (you can read about it here), so I won't go into that again, but I have taken advantage of the time off to write all of my thank you notes to the ladies who attended my bridal shower (and some who couldn't), which amounted to 40+ something thank you notes. As you can imagine, my hand hurts haha. I'm glad to have them done and out, though, and now I'm ready for round two (in 2 weeks)!

{5}-Hair Trial
Tomorrow is my hair trial for my wedding day hair. I have to drive an hour to meet up with the girl who's doing my hair, which stinks, but I'm excited to finally get the trial underway. And, my friend Bree is coming with me--ultimate girl time! This is the hairstyle that we're going to work from...(minus the flowers)

And on that note, I'm gonna get through today, and then get to that fun wedding-related stuff :)
Catch ya on Monday!

Weekend Recap

This weekend wasn't too crazy, which was just what I needed.

Friday my friend Crystal came with me to look at and choose linens for the wedding. After looking through a bunch, I chose this pewter color:
We'll get to see a mock up of the table at our tasting, so I can still make changes. I'm also going to see 3 other options at that time, too. But for right now, I think this silver will be fun, a little different, and help pop the purple color around the room, too.

After that, we hung out at my place for a bit, had a bottle some wine and caught up.

Saturday morning was the massage that I'd been looking forward to. It hurt, bc Im full of knots, but my massage therapist was good and really sweet. We ended up talking the whole time (which didn't take away from my "relaxation" since this massage was to work out knots, not to relax) and she even told me "I'm so glad to have met you today" after our conversation. She was so nice, and I have another appointment with her in 2 weeks. Woohoo!

I ran a few errands after that because the weather was supposed to be really icky on Sunday and I didn't want to be stranded at home with no food.
The rest of the day was low key, cuddle time with Cooper, reading The Book Thief (really good so far, by the way), taking care of some cleaning around the house, and watching movies on tv like 13 Going on 30 and Something Borrowed.
Sunday the first snow came. And then icy rain/sleet. Which meant another day to snuggle on the couch, stay warm, watch tv and read.

Here are a couple of scenes from the weekend:

Puppy, Christmas tree/lights...how does this get much better?
I did do something productive with myself and tried out the Zumba "game" I got for Xbox, and I LOVED it. It was so fun (I'm sure I looked like a total idiot, but that's ok) and I was sweating after just a few songs. Totally going to be doing that more often!

And, to top it all off, I got the greatest gift...school was cancelled today because of the icy conditions outside. So, another day ahead of relaxation for me! And I have a yummy meal cooking away in the crock pot for dinner tonight. Bliss!

Told ya it was a "low key" weekend. But I'm totally ok with it! Hope yours was fab!!

Arrival!

Today's the day that I get to see Boyfriend again. It's only been 11 days since he dropped me off at the airport after celebrating his birthday, but I love seeing him as much as I can. And having him here for my birthday makes it that much better!

Now, the only thing standing in our way is this dreary, awful weather we are
having in the DC area. We're supposed to get something like 4" of rain today, on top of the rain we got last week and all that the ground has absorbed throughout the winter. Thunderstorms are also predicted for this afternoon into the evening (of course, right when he's supposed to land). This seems to happen to him a lot--delays, diversions (once he got diverted to Pittsburgh), things breaking down on planes. So, I am hoping he gets in at his 5:50 arrival time, but knowing from past experience, and looking at the weather, I am just hoping he makes it in tonight, period.

Now I just have to make it through middle school recess which involves 15 pre-teen and teen girls gossiping outside of my office (shoot me), another group of 6th grade boys for speech, and a commute home in the rain. I can do this.

Here's hoping for a storm-free evening and an on-time arrival!

Hope the weather where you are is better than it is in D.C.!
