Weekend Recap

Hey all! Happy Monday! Hopefully you all aren't feeling quite as sluggish as I am this morning, but I'll soon have coffee in my hand and hopefully shortly thereafter all will be ok!

This weekend was jam packed with fun stuff, so let me recap it for you!

Friday early evening Match guy and I went to see Contagion which was actually really good. There were a TON of celebs in it, but interspersed into the movie throughout. It definitely is a movie that makes you think...and then look at every person around when they sneeze or cough around you. But, I'd say go see it!

Friday night was an early one because Match guy and I had to be bright eyed and bushy tailed to drive up to DE for my friends Emily and Steve's wedding reception. The lucky ducks got married Labor Day weekend in Antigua, and this was their "state-side reception."

When we got to DE we met up with the newlyweds and family for some lunch and then hit the casinos at Dover Downs. Match guy went in saying he would spend $100 and if he lost it, he was done. Well, within about 5 minutes he lost like $60 on roulette so we moved around the casino some more and I went to the 5 cent slots. He laughed at me, but I put a 5 dollar bill into a machine and within half the amount of time it took him to lose 60 bucks I had wont $56. I moved to another machine and ended up spending another $25 bucks (and losing it), but I still feel good cuz I was the only person who came out ahead after a little over an hour of gambling. A little after my slots win, Match guy went back to the roulette tables and I kept my distance (seemed like every time I went over, he would lose--hopefully this doesn't say something about our karma together haha). He started to win back everything and might have even came out a bit ahead, but in the end, he lost it all and we all left to get ready for the reception.

It was at this really pretty plantation-type home/lot with a tent outside (which was nice cuz it was a bit chilly out that night). There was a small dance floor and THE most delicious food ever. Like, incredibly good food! And the wine was a-flowing! The decor was super cute since both of the newlyweds are into Science (she teaches it, and he works as some kind of smart engineer person haha), they had some decor on the table with flowers in test tubes and beakers. It might sound weird, but see here:

They also had pictures on every table from their wedding in Antigua. Combined with the lights within the tent, and the pretty sunset, it was a super great atmosphere! Here are some pics from the wedding:

Match guy and I, shortly before stuffing our faces with the amazing food!
So you can see the sun setting in the background...

A shot of the whole outfit!

The beautiful bride and our friend (we all worked together last year)
my little lap lump aka Cooper

After the weekend of fun, I picked up the Coop-monster from my parent's house (where he was uber-spoiled with attention and cuddling), came home and unpacked, and spent some cuddle time on the couch with my pup while I watched my Redskins pull out another win for the season! Woohooo! Couldn't really have asked for a better end to a great weekend.

And, shhh, don't tell, but I am reeeeeally liking Match guy. He was able to come into a situation where he knew no one except me, and the bride and groom, and ended up making more friends than I did! We laughed pretty much the entire ride up, had a great time together all day and at the reception, and he can dance! He was super sweet and I am definitely enjoying spending time with him. I honestly couldnt have picked a better person to be my date to this!

So, on that happy note, I'm off to start my day and get back into the daily grind! Hope you all have smooth starts to the week!

It's OK! Thursday

Happy Thursday, bloggie friends! I dunno about you all, but I'm SUPER excited that we are just one day away from the weekend. I'm also excited cuz I found a new link-up a couple of weeks ago with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Make-up:

Its Ok Thursdays

So, today, it's OK that...

....I knew there was a chance it would rain this afternoon and I wore white pants anyway (which probably ensures that it WILL rain haha)...

....that I'm living for the weekend! Totally looking forward to my friends Emily and Steve's wedding reception in Delaware this weekend. Did I mention that Match guy is accompanying me? It should be a fab time, and I might even be doing some gambling on the penny slots! (hey, I'm a teacher, people...)...

...that I REALLY want to go to the Dominican Republic in early October since I have TWO glorious weeks off of work, and I am TOTALLY bummed that no one seems to be able to go with me! Grrr. It's super cheap to go (we are taking 800 bucks all inclusive everything) and I have no takers! Sadness....

....that sometimes I take certain features and characteristics from guys from my past and meld them in my head into the perfect guy for me. That's not UN-healthy, is it? IS IT???? haha...

....that I drink coffee, soda, and other beverages that are "not good for you" about 20 times faster than I drink water.....

...that I bought that Helly Kitty sewing machine I mentioned a few posts ago and have yet to even plug the darn thing in. So much for Crafty/Sewing Jenn...

...that I look forward to getting Real Simple magazine in the mail every month. I freaking LOVE that magazine with all of its handy-dandy tips and tricks, recipes, and crafty things. (Nevermind that the crafty things are the things I get excited about, buy--like the sewing machine--and then don't use...shhh)....

...that I am behind in my DVR-watching and am seriously contemplating not doing anything with anyone tonight so that I can sit at home tonight and catch up on all of my shows...

...that Match guy told his mom about me...(eeep!) but he was cute to ask "is it ok that I did?" haha...

....that my little pup Coop was an uber cuddle-bug last night. Every time I woke up, I had my little fur-ball curled up right next to me, which is totally not like him to snuggle the WHOLE night. But, it was sweet and I soaked it up (and then continued with my beauty sleep) haha...

I hope you're all having fab ends to the week and that the rest of the work-week goes quickly for all of us!

Sending you all bloggie hugs and kisses!

WILW and Oh, How Pinteresting!

Happy Wednesday, folks! It's the middle of the week which means we are THAT much closer to the weekend! Woooohoooooo! (I'm not excited...not at all....yeah right!) :)

Since it's Wednesday, that means it's time for my favorite link-ups of the week! First up, What I'm Loving Wednesday with Jamie at this kind of love.

I'm loving that Match guy invited me over for dinner and a movie last night and he cooked for me! He made some really really yummy home-made tacos (to the point where I want to ask for his recipe), and even bought mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert (which I had recently told him was my favorite! Gotta love a boy who listens!)

I'm loving that the subsequent kissing session after the dinner and movie was WAYYYYY good. Yessssss!

I'm loving that we have had sunshine-y gorgeous weather in the DC area after our week-long battle with the rain gods. Apparently there is some rain in the future this afternoon, but I could frankly care less. If it isn't going to last for days on end, I'm ok with it!

I'm loving that my friend invited me over to a small dinner party (more like a get together) tonight. I haven't seen these friends in for-EVER,so I'm super excited for that, and another night of home cooked meals! Score!

I'm loving that this weekend is my friend Emily's wedding reception in Delaware. It should be a ton of fun and I can not wait for a weekend of celebrating, drinking and dancing!

I'm loving the link-up Oh, How Pinteresting, because I am OBSESSED with Pinterest! If you haven't gotten on that bandwagon yet, you really need to!

So I'm linking up with Michelle at the Vintage Apple for Oh, How Pintersting!

Here are some of my awesome finds on Pinterest this week:

I'm not sure where this place is, but I need to be there. Like, now!

Oreo, peanut butter cup No-bake dessert. Mouth. Is. Watering.

I like this quote. End of story.

This is what I need to keep telling myself. And maybe they should add something in there
about being able to make out with cute boys. Cuz, that certainly helps. :)

Because it's funny, and I'm immature sometimes :)

Strawberry Champagne Spritzer...yes, please!

Because it is super cute, and I want it!

Since I'm going to the wedding reception this weekend, this stood out to me and I want it!

So, that's what I'm loving and pinning this week. What about you?? Link up so I can come stalk you!!! :)

Happy Wednesday!

Miscellaneous Monday!

Happy Monday, all! Hopefully you're awake and ready for the week. I'm telling myself that I am, and am thankful that here in DC we have sunshine (following a weekend of beautiful weather) since all of last week was spent in clouds, rain and funk! (Sorry, the beginning part of this post is lacking pics...)

This weekend was particularly nice because I wasn't travelling anywhere (other than to Maryland for the day to see my parents but that's only about 30 minutes away), the weather was beautiful, I got to be a total bum all day yesterday (a major win in my book), and I spent some time with Match guy

Friday night I went to my newlywed friends Emily and Steve's house for an amazing dinner that Emily whipped up. This delish salad (with kind of a southwest flair), some salmon and tuna made with pesto, and risotto. As well as a pink lemonade sangria. Oh. Em. Geeee was it good. I am gonna get the recipe from her and post it here cuz, let's face it, it was amazeballs! Match Guy came with me and met the lovely couple, and we all had a really nice time just relaxing, shooting the breeze and enjoying an adult-style hangout at the end of the week!

Saturday I went home to see my parents and Cooper, my mini-poodle (who is going to be three in less than a month!) got a hair cut. Poor little guy was hardly able to see he had so much hair in his eyes! Although I think he is incredibly cute when he is fluffy, shaggy and has fur in his eyes, I DO want my little guy to be able to see clearly! So, to the groomer we went, and $76 later (ouch), my pup is still cute, smells good, and has regained his ability to see without fur in his eyes:
Right after we picked him up from the groomer's...he had a bit of a handle bar 'stache going on
which I promptly took care of with some scissors. No 70's style cowboy porn star pup here!

After a long day of grooming, visiting the grandparents, etc, my pup passed out.
And apparently left a little drool on the bed as well lol
Saturday night, after returning from my parent's house, I was in more of a mood to go out than I originally had thought I would be, so I took Match Guy up on a previous offer to go to a birthday surprise party (that ended up turning into an engagement party) with a group of his friends. They were all SO nice, and super fun, and like 3 of Match Guy's female friends (who were all married) told me what a great guy he is, how he will treat a girl he is with like queen, etc. At one point I asked him if he had paid them to talk him up like that lol. (Fun fact about the engagement....earlier in the week when Match Guy and I were out, we ran into his friend who said he was meeting up with his gf's dad. We both gave him "the look" like "oooooh" and he said "no no, it's not what you think." Once he left, he texted Match Guy and said "Ok it IS what you think, but you can't say anything!") So, overall I really liked his friends, was impressed I got the invite out to meet ALL of them, and apparently I got the stamp of approval from his friends as well.

And yesterday was ended with some of this yummy pasta that I made again (courtesy of Pinterest), some white wine (hey, it was needed in the recipe! Who am I to let a bottle go to waste!), quality time with the roommate, and a Redskins football win. Against the Giants. And the Skins actually looked GOOD! Now, not getting my hopes up for the entire season, but, it's nice to have the Skins with a winning record for once, even if it IS 1-0! :)

So, that's it for me. I'm back to another work week (altho only 4 of the days this week are with kids because we are having professional development/data day on Friday, so no kiddos!!!!) Already looking forward to next weekend which will be my friend Emily's Wedding Reception in Delaware which is definitely going to be a good time! Did you all have good weekends??

Here's to a quick, and easy, week!

Friday Funk .....has been lifted

The sun came out! There are clouds in the sky but they are white and fluffy (for the most part) and I can see BLUE in the sky!

My eyes kinda hurt when I look out the window now (this must be what bats feel like if they come out in the daytime).

With the clouds lifting, so have my spirits. We shall declare that the Friday Funk has been lifted!!!!!!

"nothing but blue skies, from now on..." (I hope Mother Nature listens to that song)....

Friday Funk....

Hey all!
I'm steering clear of any link-ups right now (maybe I'll get in the mood to participate later), because I am just having one of those down in the dumps days. The weather has been dreadful here...we haven't seen sunshine since Monday morning (and that was even overcast), and it is putting me into an even deeper funk.

So, I know I wrote a bit ago that MP and I decided to break up (almost a month ago), and in that time we still found ourselves talking, and attempting to date, fix things, etc. I wouldn't commit to being back together until I saw that things were really different. And some days it WAS different, which gave me hope that maybe we COULD work things out. But those days never lasted very long. I feel like I was always in this cycle of drama, that I couldn't get out of.

MP is not a bad person. There are some things from his past that, I think, make him jump the gun and feel like people don't care about him. So, a normal situation where there is misunderstanding, he views as "you don't care" or "you aren't trying" when in actuality I WAS trying (the fact that we were still even talking and attempting things WAS me trying). But, last night I stuck to my guns and told him that I just couldn't do this anymore. I couldn't continue to live in the cycle of drama, only to have a day or a few hours of "nice time." After that conversation he deleted me from Facebook, his running website, everything. And, even though I know that this relationship was not the one that I wanted, it is still sad. I care about him, and don't want him to think negatively of me. But I guess that "needing acceptance from others" piece of me needs to let that go so that I can move past things and get to the really really good things that I hope are coming.

I think the "let down" is happening now...where I'm not in the cycle of drama, not spending time worrying about what the next thing I'm gonna get misunderstood about is, etc.

So, I took the advice of my friend Trish and let myself have a night to just feel it. And it's kinda carried over to this morning (again, the weather is just dreadful!) But I'm gonna do my best to get to the brighter side of this by the afternoon. I know that I deserve better, but it's just hard letting go of someone who you truly do care about.

I hope you all have great ends to the week, and relaxing weekends (or really fun stuff planned). I will probably be drafting plans to build an ark in case this rain doesn't stop! And, doing whatever it takes to get myself to a supremely happy place, because I know that I deserve that!

(Sorry for the deep post, just really needed to vent out some feelings, and writing always seems to help me do that. So, thanks for listening (or, reading) :)

It's Ok!

It is Thursday and the week is flying by (kind of)...thank goodness for the 4 day work-week! It is also time for another of my recent fav link-ups with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup, for It's Ok! Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's ok....

....to want to punch someone in the face for aggravating you. Even if you care about them...

Pinterest had it right....
...to care about someone even though they make you SO crazy that you want to punch them in the face!!! haha

...to really wish the weather would brighten up some (I know people in TX are dealing with wild fires and totally not trying to be insensitive about that). Days and days and days of constant rain and no sun is MEGA depressing...

...to want to pick up everything and move to somewhere tropical and exotic, forget all of your worries and be a sun-tanned goddess with not a care in the world!

...to want to bring your puppy to work so that you have a cute little buddy to squeeze, pet, and swoon over instead of doing your work...

....or to curl up with the puppy in a blanket and sweats on the couch until the weather becomes less depressing....

...to reeeeeeally like a guy :)

...to be totally thankful for good friends who get you through all of the craziness that life throws at you, and knowing that you can always count on them!...

Wooohooooooo!
