The Weekend of Date Nights

I told you last Friday that I had planned to go on a little date night with MG this weekend to just spend some 'us' time before the wedding mayhem begins.
Well, it turned into a weekend of date nights!

Thursday after work, MG suggested that we do a little happy hour sangria action, so he and I went there and had a little work-week date night with tapas and yummy sangria. Perfection :)

After my dress fitting on Friday (one minor thing to fix--picking it up today!!), MG and I decided to go to our favorite pizza spot by our place. It's got super yummy pizza and the atmosphere is nice, so it was the perfect "date night" spot. Predictably, the conversation was a lot about our wedding, and the plans we have for our house. After dinner we made our way back home and snuggled up on the couch with Coop.
Come Tuesday, this will be no longer! :)

Saturday, MG made us breakfast and then we met up with our wedding DJ and went through the plan/timeline for the reception. After looking through our playlist, he smiled and said "Oh yeah, you guys are gonna have a great time"...I can't wait :)
After that we ran some errands for the week, and for the honeymoon, we got the hotel welcome bags done, the parents and flower girl gifts wrapped, etc. And I quickly realized that the week before a wedding, when you don't have your parents house to keep everything, every corner of your place quickly turns into a huge storage area #thisisntevenallofit
My mom came down our way to drop off the cake cutter for our wedding--she's giving us the cake cutter that my grandparents used on their 50th wedding anniversary. It's engraved on one side with their name and wedding anniversary date, and my mom had it engraved on the other side with our names and wedding date. Since both of my grandparents are no longer with us, it will mean a lot to me to have something of theirs on such a special day for us. I can only hope that we get to celebrate 50 years together like they did.

That night we decided to see The Grand Budapest Hotel, so we went to grab a sushi dinner near the theater beforehand. The movie was definitely different. It had some funny parts...but I think I'd recommend watching it when it comes out on Redbox rather than spend the money to see it in the theater. I didn't hate it, but I was expecting more after all of the great reviews. It was neat to see all of the famous actors they got to be in the movie, though.

Sunday morning MG and I went to early morning services at our church. I absolutely adore our pastor--he's so energetic and funny, but he's got a deep Southern accent/drawl that is just awesome. I can't wait to hear that voice as we get married next weekend :)

Overall, it was a super relaxing weekend (much more so than I expected for a week before the wedding), made even better by all of the extra quality time with my soon-to-be husband :)
5 more days!!!!
