Thursday Thoughts

One more day away from the holiday weekend! Are you ready for it?

In the meantime, here are some of the random thoughts and confessions swirling around in my brain:

~How is today the last day of June? Seriously, where is time going??? #slowdown

~Mid-day massages are the bomb  #treatyoself

~I thought it was interesting the difference in my social media feeds following the bombing in Istanbul's airport, and after what happened in Brussels and Paris. Literally saw two posts about Istanbul, when my feed was flooded following the Paris and Brussels attacks. It's a shame because Istanbul is a gorgeous city and it's awful that they're dealing with so much turmoil and terrorism. #prayforIstanbul #prayforourworld
~On that note, my anxiety was slightly amped up about ending our trip in Istanbul and flying out of the airport that just got bombed. Our cruise line rerouted our final port yesterday which brought with it all kinds of annoyances with rebooking our flights back...causing us to extend our trip two extra days in Greece to get cheaper flights back instead of spending $2800 PER TICKET (one-way I might add) to get back home. #extendedvacay

~MG was in London for the last couple of days and got to do all kinds of things, including a private tour of the Tower of London, and getting to see the Tower be locked up at night (a tradition that's occurred for more than 700 years).  Super envious that he got to experience it. Also happy to have him back home with me! #globetrottinghubs
~The weather was SO nice yesterday (low 80, no humidity) that I read my Kindle outside for more than an hour....and then took a catnap in my zero gravity chair because it was so comfortable out there #teachersummerlife

~I went to HH with friends and ordered an iced tea, and after my first sip, proceeded to have it slip out of my hand and dump all over the bar. Hilarious and embarrassing. The bartender had a nice time ribbing me about how he wouldn't serve me Long Islands if I couldn't handle regular iced tea #clutz

~My friend Maria proved her loyalty to me as friend when this iced tea debacle occurred by using her hand as a shield for my lap, and then continued to push the iced tea away from me until the bartender sopped it up. #thatswhatfriendsarefor

~Since the month of rain we had (or what seemed like a straight month), Cooper has had issues going out before bed time. As in he refuses to go out. I started taking him out earlier, when it's not dark out, and he still freaks out (never in the morning or the afternoon walk). I don't know how to get him over this "fear"....I have a feeling the thunder from those storms freaked him out and now we have to undo some psychological damage to him #puppyshrinkneeded

~I can't believe that in 7 days we'll be off to explore some of my dream vacation destinations. I've wanted to make my way to Greece for years, and the fact that my husband and I were finally able to make this trip happen (in hopes that it would be a baby moon) makes me so excited! #bringonGreece

~The Purge movies and even the previews make me sick. I can't even watch the previews when they come on because of the disgusting behavior portrayed. Why do movies need to be SO violent? And portraying killing just for killing's sake? What sicko came up with these movies? No thank you. #illgoseefindingdoryinstead #gimmeallthepixarmovies

~I went to Loft yesterday to return a top that didn't work out--got $35 bucks back. They were having a 50% off sale, and I ended up charging $66 back to my credit card. Oops. #loveloftsales

(Only $35, and soft like pajamas!)
~I have a fun blate planned for this afternoon!!! #blatesarethebest

That's it for me today--do you have any random thoughts or confessions to share?

  4. Love that dress and cannot wait for your trip. You guys deserve this so much and I know you will have a blast. Chloe is scared of storm now too and Sophie is scared of our grass so go figure. Dogs. Weird.

  5. I need your husband's job! All of that traveling sounds like it would be fun when you get to do a little sight-seeing during downtime. And I love that you read and slept on your porch. Yes, teacher summers are worth it! Enjoy your trip. Y'all will have so much fun!

  8. So jealous of your husband's tour of the Tower of London. My husband occasionally travels overseas and I usually try to go with him on those trips (if possible). London was one business trip that I loved! I toured the city by myself and love it.

  11. I completely agree with you on the Purge movie! It scares me a little that there are people out there dreaming this stuff up! Yikes! On another note, I'm so jealous of your stay in London! That's definitely a top ten destination for me.

  12. Ok I officially need MG's job! How amazing have his travels been lately! And I felt the same way that I haven't seen much about Istanbul, and it's so sad. Glad you were able to get your trip re-routed and cheers to an extra 2 days in Greece <3

  13. Sounds like you're having an awesome summer- massages, shopping, etc!! So scary what's going on in the world and especially sad for Turkey. Hoping for more love and less hate. And so freakin' excited for your trip; sorry that it's been so much hassle in getting to the actual trip (and home) but it will all be worth it! That I am sure!!

  15. I thought about you when I saw the Istanbul bombing and I got worried. So glad they changed your port and you were able to get new flights and an extra two days. I don't get the Purge movies either. I turn them off as well. Not cool at all. I shopped the Loft sale yesterday too! I hope everything fits. I did the private Tower of London trip when I went there for work and it is pretty cool. Something you should try to do if you go there. Awesome that your husband got to. I hope you have a great weekend!!!! And I am jealous of your nap!

  16. I immediately thought about you all & your trip when that bombing happened!! So glad you were able to reroute. I know it's frustrating but at least you'll be getting two more days in Greece! Definitely better than paying those crazy ticket prices. Hope you all have the best trip :)

  17. Dying over you dropping your iced tea...I am such a klutz and do things like that all the time! Glad to know I'm not the only one!

  18. I am glad you had some savings due to the reroute. This is such a tragedy and these things are happening way too often! I need a doggie shrink too, my pup cried and shook the whole way to the groomer this morning and took a poop in my car :( I wish I traveled for work like your hubby, that sounds amazing!

  19. So jealous of your hubs! What an amazing experience! My hubs travels a ton for work and I'm so jealous sometimes! He's been all over and I've never left the country. Ah well, one day.

I'm so glad that you guys were able to reroute your trip. You are going to have a blast!! And two extra days in Greece?! I sure wouldn't hate that. Santorini has been on my travel bucket list since I created my travel bucket list!

  20. i am with you on the purge movies. they are not my cup of tea. i understand them or why people like them, but not me. i don't understand why people like movies like saw. blecch. no thanks! i am so jealous you are going to greece, what an amazing vacation! sorry about the mess with the flights and whatnot, but of course what happened in istanbul is so horrible :(

  21. I so agree with the Purge movies I just can't! When I heard about the attack in Istanbul I thought of you friend. I remembered that you were headed there shortly and hope you guys have a safe time during your trip. Crazy how shut out people became to this attack compared to the previous. Woohoo for a possible babymoon though!!!!

  22. I didn't even know there had been a bombing in Istanbul. That really makes me so mad that other countries get so much attention and this didn't. EVERYWHERE is worth our grieving! <3

  23. Our little chi Louie is petrified of thunderstorms. I mean pants, shakes, follows us and get this, needs to be held during the whole episode. Never use to be a problem when he was a puppy, but the last two years, freaks out. Damage control consists of a Valium when we get all night boomers. For HIM, not us!!!

  24. This world can be a scary, scary place. It makes me sad that terrorism now has to be something that we even have to think about when we think about traveling. So very sad. But I am so, so, so jealous of your upcoming trip. It's going to be absolutely amazing! And TOTALLY with you on The Purge. It was on TV the other night and B asked if I wanted to watch it. Um. Hell, no.

  25. That's so scary how you were concerned about the airports and next thing you know, that happens. It's so sad and sickening to see someone attacking something new every single day. I'm about over all the news alerts on my phone. Part of me likes knowing what's going on, while the other part of me just wants to mute my notifications. That dress is so cute. That's one of my favorite stores. Looks like y'all are almost ready to set sail!

  26. yeah for blates! and cute loft dresses :) i can't believe you're only a week away from vacation! so exciting :) and i hear you on the istanbul stuff. i'm often super puzzled on why people pick and choose who/what to show sympathy for. le sigh. anyway happy friday!

  27. My students had seen the first Purge movie a couple of years ago. When I eventually (randomly) saw part of it, I was horrified that THAT was the movie they'd been discussing the previous week!

  28. I love that dress!! Yay for great sales. I also hate all commercials for The Purge. They seem to be on all the time and I'm constantly muting the tv or changing the channel so that Olive doesn't catch a glimpse of that nonsense. I hate scary movies and certainly don't want to be bombarded with their previews.
